I'm not used to artificial sweeteners. I drink my tea and coffee black, don't drink sodas or other sweet drinks, and when I want something sweet I go for the real thing -- cane sugar. So when I want to get a quick shot of protein with not a lot of calories, I drink EAS Myoplex Lite and I can taste the artificial sweetener for the rest of the day. I drank one at 8:30 am. It's now 4 pm and since then I've had breakfast, brushed my teeth, worked out, drunk lots of water, and had lunch. And I can still taste it! I looked it up and I think it's corn maltodextrin. I've googled it and I can't find the answer to my question: Why???

What is your question? Why you can't get rid of the taste?

I would guess it's a placebo effect. You don't like artificial sweeteners so anything that MIGHT be attributed to them is...

Some people don't like the aftertaste of certain artificial sweeteners. Find a different product that uses a different sweetener.

FWIW, Maltodextrin is not an artificial sweetener anyway. It is a commonly used sugar for brewing beer for example (among many other things).

I googled artificial sweeteners and EAS Myoplex and got a bunch of articles about it, but they don't say WHY the aftertaste...

Then I don't know what they're using to sweeten it. I read a bunch of articles but none of them was very straightforward.

Maltodextrin isn't sweet. It adds a creamy, thicker mouthfeel to food.

But just find a powder you do like. There are plenty of other ones out there that have different ingredients.

I've tried many, they're all nasty. I misunderstood the bit about the maltodextrin, sorry. I was just curious why the hours-long aftertaste. Oh well.

From the label above, Short-Chain Fructooligosaccharides, Sugar, Corn Syrup Solids, Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose are probably where the actual sweetness is coming from.

I think I always found aspartame to have a metalic after-taste, so I never liked diet sodas that used it. (Not that aspartame is in this product). But seriously - there is so much going on in that one that you can def. find something else... Try Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard perhaps? INGREDIENTS: Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptides), Cocoa (Processed with Alkali), Artificial Flavors, Lecithin, Acesulfame Potassium, Aminogen®, Lactase. NO maltodextrin ;)

Look up AboutTime protein...it uses stevia as the sweetener and you can buy samples before buying the tubs.
