They seem very similar like they are partners or something. What's your take on it? like it? dislike it?

^^ This. I have used Pandora and I have used I Heart Radio but never iTunes radio because I hate iTunes. I do use Rhapsody radio too, but I don't like that as much as I like Pandora.

I just did the same! It started to get to the point where there was a commercial after every single song, so I switched and have never looked back.

i have pandora, and itunes radio... i will listen to itunes more than pandora, presently, because there are fewer ads, it's integrated into my music app and easy to set if i want "hits, variety, or discover"

but, honestly, i don't listen to internet radio with any real frequency.

Definitely Pandora, of the two...I really dislike iTunes. I also use Spotify when making specific playlists.

I use iTunes Match, so iTunes radio is free to me without commercials, so I'm glad to continue using that when I'm not listening to my own music as I prefer to own my own music for when I'm not around an internet connection (which happens pretty frequently when I travel or in parts of my commute).

no itunes anything. I don't really like pandora either. I use last.fm for that, far less commercials. for the rest of my music I like rdio as it syncs to my phone so I can play it all even without a phone connection.

i *wish* we had pandora. its predecessor, the music genome project, was available in my country for a while but we don't have pandora because of licensing issues.

i like that songs are analyzed & tagged by actual musicologists (or were, is this still true?), so that suggestions are made based on similarities in structure, arrangement, or production. i'm mostly aware of why i like things, but it'd be neat to get deeper insights, or unexpected recommendations (and then try to figure out the commonalities).

i think itunes' recommendations are just based on demographic predictions (x people who liked that song liked this other one too), is that right?

Seriously girl....where can you find something like that?? Would be awesome. For now Spotify is not bad...and free.

I think it's Pandora! Or it was, a few years ago.. Ok found their site. Ok, I am guessing, the job musicologists might have done in the beginning is probably done by undergrads ("trained music analysts")..

I don't think we have Spotify in Canada (licensing!) :(

My favorite for a while now is Songza. It doesn't use computer generated play lists like Pandora and many others, but instead uses curated playlists by real people.

The Concierge service of it is one of the coolest features and is so popular several other services have adopted the format. Check it out, and use it for a while I bet you kick Pandora and any other free service to the curb for sure. It's got a great phone app too and it's all free!

    You're welcome. ;-)

ETA: For all my beer drinking friends... Here's a station I made on Songza (Did I mention you can make your own playlists?) Check it out here: http://songza.com/listen/beer-beer-beer-BigDogMi/

    Paid Spotify.
When the wife and I are apart and both wanting music, I'll let her use Spotify and I use Slacker (free).
