Motivation Gone Rant

I started my weight loss back in April and lost 15 lbs from April to June. I felt great and was very active over the summer with my summer research, which required long days outside walking on uneven terrain. Then I'd have the gym and I was eating well. Even when I went home, I kept up eating well and went to the pool a few times a week. I successfully maintained my weight all of August. Then I went back to school. I have been so busy with my classes and find myself stress eating to the max. On top of that, I'm exhausted by the time I'm ready to go to the gym and work out. I'm winded and don't nearly enjoy working out as much as I did a few months ago. I just have so much to do. I'm also sick this week to where I had inflammation of the chest wall so I can't breathe properly and the doctor said to lay off the gym until I can breathe well from just walking. All in all, I've regained 5 lbs since being back to school. I guess I hit a plateau and was frustrated by not losing anything and the stress of school has culminated to this. I'm trying to bring myself to calling the health center to get some help from the dietician to help me set some rules as once I have rules, I follow them. I felt so great and now it's just all gone.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. ><
I understand your feelings completely, though.
I have always been a "give me a set of rules and I will follow them" person myself, but honestly, I'm seeing a weight loss coach type person thingy and his rules are only making me more frustrated. There's a lot of counseling, advice and things given to me but I just can't seem to follow it, and as helpful as it can be, it's all a matter of it not being *my* personal motivation and having it come from someone else...
It might be good for a while, but you have to be able to find a way to motivate yourself, even if you're just faking it initially with a silly goal or something. Eventually it will become real.0 -

I get you. I started in the summer as well and did really well, then kept it going for the first few weeks I was back in school. But I've recently had about a three week period where I got off track with both eating and exercise for several reasons. I was stuck between wanting to just say screw it and not wanting to lose the progress I've made so far. It isn't necessarily easy to get back on track, but in a way it really is. Stop making excuses, remind yourself why you started in the first place and how good it made you feel, and just take it a day at a time. I've now managed to string together three good days and am on to my fourth and feeling so much better about myself than I did a week ago. Life happens. Move on.0
