One year ago today, I found MFP and my life changed forever. I have been thinking about what I have learned. Here are some of my lessons:
1. Get up and move. I started my journey by walking and taking stairs. I park far away from buildings and do not take an elevator unless I have to go above the 8th floor.
2. Pretzel M&Ms cannot take away any pain. I live in CT. On 12/14, at approx. 1PM, when I heard about Newtown, I grabbed a bag of pretzel M&Ms and was off of MFP for 3 weeks. I came back understanding that I still had to face the horror of that day, and no food could change it.
3. I am pretty. May sound odd, but I have never in my life considered myself attractive. I have realized that I am.
4. Cadbury eggs are 150 calories and Peppermint Patties are 140 calories. A bowl of pasta that I use to eat at Applebees is 1500. Who knew.
5. I can only do my best every day. This is a life style, and I am not going to worry about Macros, or carbs or sugars. I am going to consume less calories than my body needs.
6. I am blessed. Without the fat hanging on my body, I can see all that I have missed. I do not like being fat, and do not see how truly blessed I am when I am lugging around 100+ extra pounds. But I can clearly see now and know that I am blessed. Every day.
It is through some of your diaries that I realized that I could have that damn Cadbury Egg that I had been jonesing over all Easter. Thank you all.
Am hoping I did this right- here are my pictures.
Highest Weight was 330. In the pictures attached, I was 306. I am now 199. I am not done, but here is my progress:
I can't upload the pictures- but they are all on my profile. tried to follow the instructions- but no dice.

Thank you all so much. I am a complete introvert, and it took me a little bit to start to add friends, but have found that it is the people that I have met on this site have really helped me along the way. There is so much that I can learn from others who are on their own journey. Thanks again!0

I totally feel your pain on the photo thing...have spent probably an hour of my life trying to post before and now photos on here over the past couple of months and no instructions have EVER worked for me (despite posting photos and links on other forums for the past 15 years)...I give up!
Anyway...yay! Thanks for sharing your story :-) You look and sound so happy.
You sound a lot like me, comparing the 150 cal Cadbury egg to the 1500 bowl of pasta from Applebees. I had the exact same sort of revelations when I joined MFP six months ago! Mini shake from Sonic has WAY more calories than a Snickers bar!? Fish sandwich at Culver's has nearly twice the calories of their veggie burger with everything!? Wat!? I feel silly now but it's good to be aware of stuff like that, even when comparing good/good or bad/bad.
I hope to be somewhere near where you are in the future. My all-time high was 307, and I started MFP at 262. Now at 219 and starting to actually believe I will see 199.0 -
Congratulations, you look amazing, pretty and attractive. Well done to you ????????0

You are PHENOMENAL, girl! You should be so incredibly proud of yourself...you look amazing and I can only imagine how kick-*kitten* you will be when you're done!
Also, glad I'm not the only one not worried about macros. ;-)
Keep it up - you are an inspiration! :-D
