This is so not diet related but my boyfriend and I have been discussing marriage. We have both been married before and do not want to do the huge wedding thing. I would like to do something extremely simple but we do still need to invite roughly 25-30 people. These are our closest family and friends. My question is how do we go about this? I need wedding ideas. Backyard? Park? IDK! I am truly blanking out on this one guys!

I would do something in a near by park -- or if you have a family or friend w/ a beautiful back yard, do that.
When is the wedding? You could always rent a facility and have the service there.

If you did it at a park/backyard, it would be alot easier to have it catered!
    Sounds like fun!

Well since you are in Dallas you could go to Galveston and do something on the beach. A little ways a way but not horrible that it could be a long weekend.

i was going to say the beach too...i dont know how far you are from the beach but a small intimate wedding with just a handful of guests on the beach at sunset would be lovely.....it also depends on the time of year you are thinking about...i live in florida so sometimes i forget that

you could just have people stand or do chairs up to you depending on how long the ceremony is...or spread blankets on the sand....have a small reception with cake and champagne and/or hors d'oeuvres at a local restaurant on the water...

soooo pretty.....good luck with your plans and let us know what you decide...
  • I just got married 6 months ago so I went through this only a year ago... Try doing an online search for local wedding venues - you will be surprised at what pops up! Most public park allow small weddings and receptions as well as older plantation houses, etc.

    Congrats and best of luck!

Go to VEGAS! Have fun just the two of you (maybe a few friends) then come back and have a big reception with family and friends

    I'll come...

My sister, my brother's wife's brother, and my cousin had small weddings - they got married at city hall [cousin married in a church] and had a reception at a restaurant. It was small - under 30 people at each wedding. A lot nicer than the big 300+ people weddings I've been to.

My husband and I had been previously married as well so wanted something more low key.

We rented a room at the community centre that had a kitchen and bar area attached. It was actually their pub room so was quite nice with a huge stone fireplace and intimate lighting. We had a marriage commissioner do the ceremony right there on the dance floor, a small catered dinner, and hired a DJ for an afterparty.
Everything was done right in that rented room and it turned out beautiful, plus was quite cost effective, and we had about 70 people attend.

I originally wanted an outdoor wedding. something simple. But I was afraid of rain. So I looked for a place that could do both, just in case it did rain. And I ended up finding the most beautiful chapel. Never pictured myself in a chapel. but it was used as a banquet facility. with a nice open floor plan. It had beautiful gabezo's outside. that was the orginal plan, but I just fell in love with the natural wood ceiling inside, that we ended up getting married indoors.

So just keep in mind the weather. Outdoor weddings are so nice. but if the weather doesn't go with your plans, it can be miserable. Try looking for a place, that can do both!
