drinking water but still thirsty

Okay so yesterday was the first day I drank all the water i needed to in a day.

Now today im already halfway done chugging the first bottle (out of two bottles) It should be that i dont finish this bottle until lunch. But right now I am super thirsty. I already drank half of my water for the day.

So...should I drink more than 8 8 ounce glasses of water a day. Its so weird yesterday i thought this wasa ton of water.

Any suggestions

    there is, but if you're still thirsty... drink more.

    the folks that drink THAT much water aren't likely going to be thirsty... at all... it takes a LOT of water to get to that point, nothing close to the amount that you're gonna be drinking.

    I drink anywhere from a gallon to two gallons per day...just drink when you're thirsty...you don't need a stop watch or anything.
  • My nutricianist just told me take your weight and devide it in half. So if you weigh 140 drink 70 oz. MINIMUM! You really can't have too much.

    She also said if you are still thirsty when drinking a lot of water, you need electrolites to help your cells absorb the water and just not pee it out.

    8 8oz of water really isn't that much..

    I drink at least 3 litres of water a day and another litre per hour of exercise. Most people I know aim to drink a gallon a day.

    You could try adding a little lemon or lime juice to your water - sometimes that makes it more thirst quenching. Other than that, if you're thirsty, drink.

    Once I started making myself drink more water, I found that I was thirsty more often, and craved more. It's normal!

    as long as you don't have a heart or kidney condition you can drink all you want! Did you eat very salty? Maybe that is the reason why you are more thirsty today!

    Oh and don't set time limits for drinking water! Maybe to get in a minimum, but not a maximum. So maybe you are thirsty now and drink less and later when you should finish your second bottle you have to force yourself!
    So better drink it now and maybe more water later!

    You sound plenty hydrated. Try putting a bit of lemon in your water to quench that thirsty feeling.

    I think I read somewhere.. that chugging water hydrates less effectively than sipping it over a longer period of time? Not sure.

    If you are still thirsty, your body is telling you to drink more. You should listen.

    ^this. You probably need electrolytes, especially if you're working out and/or decreasing sodium in your diet.

    I carry around a gallon of water with me EVERYWHERE and always have to refill it before my day ends.

    This is pretty much what I was going to say too. Try drinking slowly throughout the day instead of chugging and see if that makes a difference. The body can't keep up with sudden intakes like that and will just force the excess through.

    As far as the too much water scare - that stems from stupid radio/college kid challenges where people chug crazy amounts of water at once and get sick. Drinking 8 cups a water per day or half your body weight in ounces (weight in pounds divided by 2 = ounces to drink) won't cause problems.

    If you're worried, urine color is usually a good indicator. Darker yellow (especially with odor) - need more water. Very pale yellow - ok. Clear - maybe cut down on the intake a bit.

    This. OP, you need to check your glucose.

    My dog is diabetic. We didn't know he was sick until he started peeing all over the house because he was drinking way too much.
    Now he's on insulin and we monitor how much he drinks. When he starts drinking like crazy, it means his glucose level is high.

    I find that when I start getting dehydrated, I stop feeling thirsty but start craving sugar. Then if I actually recognize that I should have some water instead of sugar, it's like my body remembers that I'm actually thirsty and it turns the switch back on so I crave more water. Weird.

    That reminds me...must go and fill my glass up again.

    Pity it's too early to add whiskey. At least where I live...got to keep sober enough to pretend to work for the rest of the afternoon.

    I have found that when I drink a lot of water after exercising I am still thirst, but feel heavy from the water. I found that I use something with electrolytes It quenches my thirst. It don't do sweetened drinks of an any kind for many reason and found a product called smart water. It quenches my thirst.

    Keep drinking if you are thirsty. The eight - eight ounce glasses thing is not a limit, it is a minimum.

    Nothing quenches thirst like cold water. I carry ice water everywhere I go. I must drink 10 or 12 16 ounce bottles of water a day, make extra for the ice, then there's the cup or 2 of coffee....sugar free lemonade...cold vinegar

    Yummm gotta have my water...the colder the better though Im not opposed to even warm water in some circs
