I'm not always positive and motivated. This is my life and I wake up and try to do the best I can.

If I eat something not good I usually feel the effects later.

I wish I had a better answer for you.

I'm not always motivated, and I'm not always positive. However, I AM committed. Quitting and half-@$$ing anything isn't an option, so what needs to be done gets done.

I made a decision, and I will follow through with it.

Make your journey fun by finding yummy things to eat .I love these websites: Skinnytaste.com -try Baked Pumpkin Oatmeal
    Apple Nut bread
both of these are very yummy and filling ,I eat a double portion of Apple nut bread with 1 tbsp Strawberry cream cheese.
And this oatmeal can be made night or day before and I get 4 servings out of that as I like to eat a 300 cal breakfast. the soups and dinners are also awesome.
another site is Emilybites.com --I recommend Cheesy lemon tortilla bake ,sooo good.Make it fun and you will be excited to start each day anew and remember you are on a fun journey not a Diet. I know my stats say that I have lost 4 lbs but I have lost about 24 lbs as I was signed up with WW before and found this site talking to someone recommending this site to me.I have to say I am most happy with the change ,I have more info here and it is free. Best of luck

I look down and hate what I see. Enough is enough and I'm finally doing this for real.
  • I am in general a positive person. Staying motivated is harder for me. But what helps me is I remember back to how unhappy I was overweight. If I was having a bad day when I was "fat", I would be double unhappy cause I would feel like crap cause of my weight too. Now if I am having a bad day, I can look down and feel better about myself and try to work through the bad thing that is happening. I don't think that makes as much sense written out as it does in my head...
Basically, I was so unhappy when I was heavy and EVERYTHING was centered around it so I couldn't enjoy my life cause I was constantly focused on how I looked. Now I am just motivated to not get back to that terrible place.

It would be a wonderful world if we all felt motivated and positive every single day during this journey; Unfortunately, that is usually not the case.

In the beginning of my journey I was always positive and motivated because it was something new and refreshing. Of course, after a while that wore off. Yes, there were days that I couldn't wait to hit the gym and pump it up, but there were other days where I had to literally drag myself to the gym; The point is that I STILL went, and did everything I had to do to proceed with my new, healthy lifestyle. Like they say, You never regret a workout. You just have to get yourself there. Once you do, once you break that first bead of sweat, the motivation and positive attitude will come pouring out! This journey is more about COMMITMENT rather than motivation. Sometimes you have to force yourself to get through the day on a healthy foot, if you're committed, you will succeed in this!

Finding a program that works for YOU, and reinventing some of your favourite recipes will help keep things fresh. Try changing up your workout every 4-5 workouts to keep your body from falling into a routine, and to prevent yourself from getting bored. It's all about finding what meshes best for YOU.

Simple key is to always have something to look forward to. Goals, events, whatever. When you have something to look forward to, you are always excited to proceed.

I think feeling the rush of success makes me most motivated. It's not like I love working out. I just really don't want to be fat.
  • My motivation to workout and eat right? Looking at my stomach in the mirror some days and thinking "What the @#$!! Damn you, Heineken!"

Its become a habit for me :-D

I'm a positive person anyway so making good habits were easy for me.

At the start I didn't find it easy, ok the tracking my food was ok but I didn't really want to do anything other than walk...then I took up proper working out/dvd's in January and it was the best thing I ever did! I'm in the daily exercise habit now where I want to workout, it becomes addictive :)

The tracking also becomes a habit and you instinctively know how to make better choices.

A friend on here once said, do anything for 21 days and it becomes a habit, well those are very true words! :)

Just keep on going, focus on your goal and how fit and energetic you WILL feel, I'm telling you that WILL happen and not only that, you'll look amazing :-D

I just decided one day that I wanted to feel better, look better & be healthier in general. I set a goal & I keep my eye on it because I really really want to achieve it.

No method. I've always been a positive person in just about every endeavor I've taken on. Motivation is about commitment, so regardless of how bad it goes, I press on. Even in losing efforts, I still continue and hope that I attain knowledge and experience from it. That's how you get better. Working in a place where I see people wishing for just one year of good health , makes me feel empowered to take advantage of the good health I have now.

I don't think I am always positive, and I am certainly not always motivated. However, I recently had a friend walk back into my life and she told me that I seem so much calmer now. I have people constantly say that they never see me without a smile, and I also get loads of feedback with friends saying that I am such a strong person. These are not thing I realize within myself, however, hearing how other people view me in such a positve way, I think, really helps me continue to just be me. I keep on smiling even when life sucks and I make it a point to always find the silver lining. Once I change the way I look at a situation my attitude tends to follow.
What keeps me eating healthy and working out is my drive to want to be on this earth as long as possible for my kids. I don't know when my day will come, but if I can say I did everything I could to keep myself healthy, then that's what counts.

Each morning I wake up and tell myself it's going to be a good day. Even if I don't feel great or I'm dreading the day, I just smile and tell myself it will be good. If I find myself saying something negative, I try changing it. If I start to say, "I feel bad," I'll switch it up and say, "I feel...okay. I feel...like eggs this morning." It's odd how much your own inner dialogue will control your feelings.

In my life, I've learned I need to try and stay as positive as I can. I've had some health issues, but feeling down only makes things worse.

I just live by the Nike motto: Just do it.
Sometimes I feel like crap, others lazy, and sometimes I think being a chunky horse is easier.
But I push through with it anyway because it's worth it.

Well, I certainly don't wake up every day with a positive attitude for staying on track. I have my off days. But I find a non-restrictive diet and switching up my workouts periodically keeps me most on track.

I don't do well with "you can't eat <whatever>". And I get bored doing the same type of workouts every day after a while, so switching that up every now and then is a must.

I have changed my thinking about food and exercise. Being healthy isn't about restriction or being deprived or sacrificing. Remove the negative thinking surrounding it.

I saw someone on MFP who said she breaks it down into small goals. For example when she thinks she is having a weak moment she tries to make it through that moment than that hour etc. It's worked for me a few times. Also when I don't want to do my walk, I talk to myself saying "keep going" and it turns into a rhythmic breathing and before I know it I am almost done.

It sounds corny, but I leave myself love notes. Haha! Things that have nothing to do with the shape or size of my body. I used scrapbooking paper, gems, and other art supplies to make them. There is one taped to my bathroom mirror that says "Smile! You're a goddess." and (when I had a dog) there used to be one above my puppy's dish that said "Your puppy loves you!". Just little reminders around my home that let me know there is a whole lot more to me than my appearance. It helps me keep a positive, healthy experience on life in general.

I just think about what I felt like a year ago and compare it to how I feel now. Then I wonder how I will feel in 6 months... this keeps me going.

This is definitely true for me. I keep a sticker chart for each day that I work out/go to the gym and an excel spreadsheet to track my progress weight wise. I also have goals set for holidays (ie: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.).
