Panic Attack

I am about to have a panic attack over food. This is insane. I had luncheon at work today and managed to do well until the cake came. But even then I only had a very small piece. Dinner tonight is thin crust pizza because its all I have until I can get someone to take me food shopping tomorrow.
Normally I wouldn't freak out over food, I would just do a little more exercise. However, I injured my knee and cannot do the running/jogging, elliptical machine/ bike like I have been and I am petrified of gaining weight again. I have a cruise coming up for my birthday in November that I want to look good for.
I am literally freaking out over food right now. Is this normal ?

This is my first post on here, after debating on weather to post or not until I saw your post.
I believe because we think about food so often and we are strict that when something that happens that seems out of your control you have a freak out, but the thing is.. you do have control, you always have control - this you must remember. Try to see positive/humor in a negative and you might feel better
Good job on having only a small piece of cake, I would have been looking for a shovel instead of a spoon :P0 -
Panic attacks are horrible, I've had a few in the past and its probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced. Feels like you're having a heart attack. If you're having real panic attacks from food, you definitely need to change your outlook on food. It should not be stressing you out that much. That's probably unhealthier than eating the actual food itself.
It's okay to have cake and sweets and snacks sometimes, you're not going to gain 10 lbs overnight from one piece of cake. As long as its not a habit, I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep rolling with your diet and exercise routine and you'll be fine.0 -
It was't a full blown one, thank God. But it was bad enough. I really am petrified of gaining again since I can't get out and exercise like I have been. I can barely walk.
That alone is frustrating me to no end. I have become used to walking/jogging or doing some form of cardio at least 3 to 4 times a week. This knee injury has me laid up. I'm just all out of wack.

Thank you forevertoday. I asked for the smallest piece. Takes will power which apparently I had with cake but not with dinner. LOL. Oh well. I suppose ONE bad day this week won't kill me. Weekends are always danger days for me unless I am home.0

I don't know if it's normal but I freak out about food a lot!! Well not as much as I did when I first started but still. Eating too much made me fat and I freak out sometimes because I am doing so well and don't ever want to go back to where I was. Just keep in mind that we all splurge now and then ( I did for dinner tonight). The main thing is that most of the time we stick to the healthy eating and exercising and don't let one splurge put you in a downward spiral. Log what you ate, think about why you overindulged (if in fact you did) and think how you can avoid it next time. Now back on track!!! Do not let one piece of cake lead to eating two pieces or the whole cake. That is how we got to where we are and let's never go back there!!
Google some exercises you can do with your injury. There are tons of free videos out there that you can build your own routine according to what you are able to do. Lift weights while sitting if you have to. Don't have weights? Lift soup cansSeriously use whatever you have to keep yourself exercising.

The way I see it, you have an injury, which requires that you rest to get better. It's not like you're skipping exercise because you're lazy or don't care anymore, you are supposed to rest to get better, so that you can heal quicker, and then get back on track again. So you are doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing at this point, resting and healing. You'll be back to normal in no time. Until then, just rest up, keep your diet in check while allowing yourself to have some fun now and then (cake is not bad, etc), and you'll be fine. No worries.0

One day splurges are not the enemy.... Monthly splurges are. It is really scary being teamed up against you and your will to say no. But sometimes a calorie overage is a good thing. It kick starts your metabolism and allows for a greater burn. If you keep it to once in a while going over your calories is no reason to fret. You just gotta keep thinking that tomorrow is a new day, and keep on chugging along.0
