I am so excited

This morning I weighed in at 199.9 lbs. This is such a good feeling. I started at 235 lbs. but when I got on myfitnesspal I was at 233. A while back, I got a more accurate scale that reads 5 lbs lighter, so there is a big blip in my chart but even with that, I have lost over 30 lbs. My goal is 180. I am 6'3" and 49 years old. I would llike to get to get to my goal weight by Christmas because all my clothes are huge on me now. I hate to waste money on intermediate clothes. My plan is to get to 180 and buy a completely new wardrobe, paid for by my savings on food. Last time I bought clothes the big factor in what I bought was which things made me look less fat. I was eating a lot of food before and about half as much now which really adds up. I had gained 50 lbs in 11 years so it is nice to get back to me.
Myfitnesspal made it easy and made it work. I found it through the app on my iphone. Thanks myfitnesspal!

Just my opinion here: "Intermediate clothes" are not a waste of money. You should feel good about how you look when you're dressed, even if you only buy 1 or two outfits until your big shopping spree - it's so worth it. Sometimes, seeing how your body has changed in the "intermediate clothes" is a confidence booster and builds motivation to work even harder! Even if you've not yet reached your goal - don't you think you've earned the right to buy SOMETHING for yourself so far???
Oh - and congrats for doing so well!0 -
Good for you! Enjoy your success and keep up the good work!0

Congrats! Might want to check out a thrift store in an upscale part of town for some inexpensive "intermediate" clothes. I've personally had good luck with the clearance racks for just enough items to tide me over.0

Congrats! Keep it up - you've accomplished so much and you are so close! Exciting!0

WOW! I'm so impressed and happy for you! I would buy some clothes at the thrift store. That way you have clothes that fit and you don't spend a lot. I've found a lot of stuff there with the tags still on and never worn. Just be prepared to spend some time really searching through the racks for the good stuff! I got a never worn Liz Claiborne sweater for $4 last year. Regardless of if you meet your goal by Christmas (and I'm sure you will, you've been so dedicated, but just in case) get that Christmas outfit anyway. Look FABULOUS in your family photos!0

Great job. I am going through the same thing. Although I love the feel of my pants being too big, I was told by my wife that having to cinch my belt down to size made me look like a hobo. A couple pair of intermediate pants will make you look thinner and be greatly appreciated lightly used if you give the charity when your done with them.
Keep up the good work! You're going to have a great Christmas0 -

I agree with this!! My problem has always been that. I had my fat clothes and my thin clothes and when I'd finally start to lose the weight I never got any clothes to fit because I assumed I'd get to my goal. But.... I never got to my goal. I couldn't see how good I looked so I thought I looked terrible. Bottom line is, I'm not going to keep repeating this terrible cycle. Good luck with everything and great job so far already!!0 -
:drinker: Here is to you! I am hoping to meet my goal weight by New Years so I can proclaim a new resolution: "To maintain my weightloss!" I bet you will be able to make this same resolution! (These last 10 lbs are killing me! The scale is STUCK!) Hope your last few go quicker than mine!0

Thanks everybody. My wife has been saying the same thing about the clothes.
I got stuck at 202-203 for about 2 weeks even though I was eating right. Last weekend I said to heck with this and started aiming at 1200 calories per day. I didn't hit it exactly but was definitely well below my daily 1500 allowance. It did the trick and knocked off 3 lbs and got me unstuck. Now I'll start eating closer to 1500 and see what happens. If I want to make my goal I have to stay at about 2 lbs a week, not including Thanksgiving week which I plan to cheat up to around 2400 calories. I'm thinking this may keep my body wondering, and I know I'm not going to keep to 1500 calories a day for that week anyway.
Thanks for all the props y'all.0 -
This morning the scale said 189.8! This week I bought 19 pairs of 34 inch flat front pants. My new wardrobe is on it's way. I am buying all large size trim fit shirts. I have a closet full of almost new 38 inch pleated front pants and xl shirts. I will find a young professional starting out to work a deal with. I'm not keeping them "just in case I put the weight back on" as some have suggested. This is forever. Thanks to all of you inspirational people and MFP.0
