I do strength training....what I think is good excersises for me.....-squats,deadlifts, bicep curls and lunges for 30 minutes....going to start doing it for an hour as of tomorrow however I also do a 30 minutes of ab exercises with weights, what else should I be doing
to see more results? I have an unwanted paunch.......looks slightly like I am bloated, people say it's not noticeable, but I wish I had a more defined stomach. I have had the paunch forever...since I was a kid..I am skinny and toned every where else, just the stomach region. I am also taking creatine, just two teaspoons a day though. My diet is balanced, healthy enough. I am just wondering how long will it take to get a realistic flat stomach? I also jog 10 miles a day and do 10 minutes of HIIT and I walk for 1 hour everyday. I am 5'1 1/2 - 99 pounds and I am 20 years old.

Flat stomach is about lowering overall body fat so you will need to eat in caloric deficit. Abs are made in the kitchen. Make sure to weigh/track EVERYTHING you eat on a digital scale and eat in deficit until you are satisfied. I am sure you already know that you can't spot reduce.0

You are 20 pounds less and 3 inches taller than I am. Continue strength training and cardio, eat enough and you should see a difference eventually. I am sure you look lovely and you are much more critical of yourself that you need to be.0

Thank you so so much! I really appreciate those words. I will continue strength training and doing the cardio along with eating right, I guess it just takes time. I am thinking maybe my sugar intake is too high, I eat a lot of fruit so i might cut down on that.0

On this site it says I should be eating 1200 calories. However If I exercise for 3 in a half hours a day should I be eating more? I normally eat about 1500 calories in total I would say on a day where I exercise. But now I am thinking maybe I should stick to just 1200 calories to lose a few pounds get down to a lower body fat percentage. I do have cheat days once a week, I am going to
be cutting those out because I consume a lot of sweet-sugary things on that particular day. My overall diet is good, but I guess things just take time.0

Are you putting it for a 2lb/week loss? with only 8lbs, you should pick .5lbs/week0

Simple things you can do: Watch your posture. I spent a lot of my day sitting and I tend to slouch, so consciously sitting up straight has helped.
For me, what has also worked is cutting back on wheat...bread, crackers, pasta, etc. I find the more refined grains I eat the more pronounced my pouch becomes.
And, something to remember: A lot of the abs you see on cover models are made in the photography studio and not the gym or via genetics.0

What exactly do you mean? Like should I opt to lose 5 pounds within a week?0

Hmmm, I will try to cut out the wheat, bread, I have read somewhere that it can cause the "wheat belly". I am going to cut that stuff out. Thank you for reminding me about it.0

Do you really jog 10 miles a day?
Sorry, i cannot get beyond that.
I am thinking you are probably being a bit critical of yourself at 99lbs. Everyone should have some fat.
Are you trying to lose weight?0

My mother has a paunch as well, she resembles me but an older me. I don't have very large muscles, I have always been very petite. I am new to strength training, so i guess i will not see results for awhile. Everywhere else on my body is very toned and tight, it's just my stomach. It's where I collect my fat storage.0

Not 5 lbs. .5 or 0.5 if you missed the decimal.
When you choose how much you want to lose on MFP, I was asking if you picked a goal of losing 2lbs a week and if you did, put it down to 0.5lbs a week.
Was trying to figure out how you are getting a 1200 cal goal0

I do jog 10 miles a day. I am in a runners group. it's only about two hours long, sometimes 1 hour and 45minutes, depending how my legs feel. I am being a bit critical I suppose, however my stomach is my only troubled area. I am skinny-toned everywhere from my thighs-legs to my butt, my arms are toned...not muscular, but very toned, my fat only seems to collect right underneath my belly button and I just really hate it. It really makes me sooo unhappy. I am not sure what to do about it.0

Oh okay, sorry I guess I missed that. That will help me out then, thank you so much.0

Clean eating, cardio, and my abs didn't start showing until I started doing Pilates. It also took about 9 months, so patience is key. Once I quit focusing on getting abs, they were there randomly one day lol. Try typing in YouTube blogilates Victoria's Secret abs. They will be sore for about 3 days if you complete it and try your hardest. So killer!0

I apologize. You are 99lbs? Let me correct myself. Put yourself at maintaining. You don't need to lose any more weight.0

I also don't exactly want to lose more weight, but I just don't know how to get rid of the belly buldge....that is where I only have fat to grab. I am going to blame genetics, it seems everything I have tried to do...I cannot get a flat stomach.0

I will try to eat more clean, kicking out the sugars, my fat intake is not high at all, it's at a good rate. When I have a cheat day I eat a lot of sweet-sugary things, so I am going kick that habit. I will try to do more pilates, I found this link on youtube , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZoR7YKqIe8 is this the one? I will try my hardest and will definitely have more patience, it's hard eh, but hey it's something I am going to strive to have. How long do you do pilates for? 0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZoR7YKqIe8 is this the one? I can relate as that is where i hold it too. And, i was wondering how to get rid of it.
I think sometimes when you do the same activity day after day your body becomes use to it and it is not as effective anymore. Try switching up some of your workouts. Maybe bike instead of run on some of them.
I am training for a half marathon and i run one long run a week (currently at 11 miles) with short runs in between (3-7 miles). So i cannot imagine running 10 miles everyday!
(that is why in my mind you have to be almost at your very best already!!)
 Good luck though0

What is your body fat %?
Well my BMI says it's at 18.1, my doctor says it's okay I am healthy for my height-body-weight.... so I just don't know how to get rid of the fat around my stomach area without dieting and losing more weight. I am thinking maybe I should just strength train more?0

Awe, thank you! It's such a shame when you collect it in that area to, I wish I could collect my fat in my thighs or butt, but I don't. I guess everyone is different and maybe you are right I should change it up a bit more. I was thinking about swimming or something. 11 miles is great!!!!!! It really does take time and practice to be able to run for a very long time. it's taken me about 5 months or so to be able to run 10 miles a day.... It's a definite challenge for me every time I get out there. I just prefer to run outside then inside. Let's just say I have a great heart and and can do a lot of cardio without getting too tired. But I mean, it does take time to get used to running harder and faster. I'm proud of you for running a half marathon, i have never done a marathon before, although i should hehe. Good luck to you to.0

            How about Pilates?
 Pilates is very core focused.
I don't do Pilates (I just can't get into it), but I never see anyone who does Pilates regularly who has belly flab.0
