Confused about Torani syrup label

I don't know how to log Torani syrups. On the nutritional label it reads a serving is "1 fluid oz (2 tablespoons/30mL)." When I look up what 30mL is equivalent to it's supposed to be 30 grams. As far as I know a tablespoon is 28 grams, so the label's wrong, right? Then I thought I could divide the number of servings by the product's weight to get the right figure, but that came up with 39 grams per serving. Now I'm more confused than ever.

Anyone know how to correctly log this?

Converting liquid measure to weight is difficult because liquids have different densities. For water, 30 ml = 30g, however for something more dense like syrup, 30 ml may weigh more. You can always measure out 30 ml of the syrup, weigh it and note it, and that would be 1 serving in grams. Or, you can just go with the liquid measure.
  • Oh, so that 30g=30mL I kept seeing was for water. I didn't think about densities of the liquids. Makes sense now. Thanks!
