how do I add potatoes?

I find the food search on this site so frustrating sometimes... I am trying to add 2.5 pounds of potatoes to a recipe and no matter what I search it comes up like "Arby's - french fried potatoes," "Cracker Barrel - cheese soaked potatoes" or like "Potatoes, mashed, with kale and onions." Or even worse it's like "Potato, skin, flesh" but you can only add by 100g increments. I have no idea how many grams of potatoes I used :(

I just messed around with it for WAY too long. I'm clearly doing it wrong and I need some help! Can someone please tell me what exact search terms to use to find plain white potatoes (preferably with the skin off since I peeled them, but I'll pretend I ate the skin if I have to) where I can add them to a recipe in pounds or at least in ounces??

Thanks!!!

  • I hate when I can't find what I am looking for......maybe try "potatoes - usda" and see if that helps.

    Good luck

Search for white potatoes and you'll get various options and use an online convertor to convert pounds to grams.

    1 pound = 453.59237 grams
You can enter fractions of a serving size, so it doesn't have to be in even 100g increments. If, for instance, you had 1 lbs of potatoes, enter as 4.5 servings of potato at 100g per serving.

ID the actual type of potato...i.e. USDA Red Potato...usually listed in grams so you'll have to do a little math
