Weight Gain (Very worried!!)

I lost a total of 212 lbs in almost three years (17 of the 212 lbs came from MFP). I weighed in this morning and I gained 2 lbs in two weeks. I'm disappointed. I know why I gained the weight because my grandfather was in the hospital (and he's home now) and we ate out constantly (high sodium). Also, I have not have my menstrual cycle (since late May) and I'm on a low-dose birth control. I need some support because my timeline has not responded to my comment yet and I need somebody to say it's OK. I fear my weight gain will continue and I will be back to my starting weight if I don't do anything. :-(
HELP!!

Well... You indicated that you know why you gained the weight. Thank goodness your grandfather is back home and you can now focus on making smart eating choices. Good luck!0

Hang in there, girl. You have already found the culprit, the food during the last weeks. I can very well relate to that. I have gained 8 pounds over the summer due to lack of excercie (the kids were home and no gym for me) and we were moving and had lots of fast food and junk food. With going back to your regular diet and taking care of yourself you will be back on track!0

I would agree... You've identified the culprit. Sodium will cause you to retain water, so you'll probably shed those 2 lbs very quickly!0

It's ok.0

If there is one universal truth that I've learned while dieting it's that bodies are weird. Sometimes you do everything right and the scale goes up a pound. Sometimes you do everything wrong and the scale drops two. Don't let a week or two get under your skin. It doesn't matter in the long run! Our bodies are complicated and water weight, hormones, sodium, all those little fluctuations will really mess with your head if you get too fixated on them. Two pounds is barely a drop in the bucket of weight you've lost right now. Congrats!0

It's 2 pounds, not 200. You're not going to put the weight back on if you return to your healthy eating. Also, I'd be a little concern about your lack of a menstrual cycle. That can be a huge indication that you might have overshot your weight loss goal.0

we ate out constantly (high sodium).
Congrats on the 212 lbs. That is AWESOME.
High in sodium = water weight gain. Your body can fluctuate up to 5 lbs a DAY.

I fluctuate 2-3 lbs daily, I don't think its anything to worry about. You realize you haven't been eating the best, increase your water intake and go back to eating healthy and the weight will come off fast. I don't know your circumstances, so forgive me if I am assuming wrong, but have you taken a pregnancy test? I became pregnant on a low dose birth control pill and was 3 months along before I realized it.0

After losing 212 pounds (so awesome!!!), 2 pounds is NOTHING! You've identified why you've most likely gained this weight. So, drink lots of water and eat lots of good, low sodium foods and I bet those 2 pounds disappear quickly!0

Don't worry. I think you've pinpointed the cause. I gained 3 pounds two weeks ago from "SodiumFest 2013" and though it stuck around longer than usual, every ounce is now gone and I'm back to my usual weight. When I know I've eaten lots of sodium, lots of water and potassium rich foods help purge the extra water weight.
Hang in there and be patient. And congrats on losing so much weight and getting healthier!0 -
I gained 6 Lbs since my Friday morning weigh in. I'm bloated with water from having a lot of sodium this weekend with going to the fair and what not and eating like ****...I also drank a few more beers than usual which also leaves me bloated. I've been maintaining for about 5 months and this kind of bloat is pretty customary when I go off the rails with my sodium and beer intake...it's not fat...it would be impossible for me to consume enough calories over two days to put on 6 Lbs of actual fat...it's all bloat and water and will be gone by Wednesday at the latest.0
