Well hello everyone - for the first time in very nearly 40 years I've decided to count calories and discovered that my so called healthy brekkie wasn't! So much for a banana and yoghurt to start the day, I blew my sugar intake in one sitting!!! Ideas please that aren't wheat based and take about 3 minutes to prepare. Also, turns out I don't eat enough so why am I such a heavy weight?!!!!!

My breakfast does usually involve some kind of wheat... I love La Tortilla Factory low carb tortillas...
Some options:
Eggs - I do one whole egg plus two whites...
Refried beans with chipotle salsa...
Quinoa...
Steel cut oats...
Fruits...
Greek yogurt...
Are you a diabetic? If not get rid of the preset total of sugar that MFP gives you. If you aren't eating refined sugar don't get down on yourself about it!
I shoot for a macro goal of 40% carbs, 35% protein and 25% fat. The presets from MFP of 50% + carbs with practically no sugar is impractical. Set your goals to suit your needs and the dietary research you do and the effect it has on your body.
Anyone is welcome to add me. My diary is open to friends and I comment all the time.0 -
My favorite breakfasts:
- 2 eggs with unbuttered toast (can be wheat free)
- a couple of hardboiled eggs (made the night before)
- Bowl of oatmeal with 2 tsp of brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon (or instead of brown sugar, a mashed banana or some applesauce)
- Overnight oats: http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal
The sugar goal on MFP is absurd, especially if you eat any fruit what so ever. I would take a look at your yogurt though and see what the ingredients are. Some have way too much sugar and you can find much better alternatives that sweeten with fruit.0 -
I'm not a fitness fanatic so people would frown on my diet i'm sure. My breakfasts are usually any of the following:
peanut butter and jam sandwich
or
2 eggs plus a slice or two of bacon and sometimes a slice of toast
or
apple or banana and 1/2bagel with cream cheese
or
boiled egg & fruit
I don't eat breakfast regularly though. I just try and keep it under 300 calories but no sweet stuff (other than natural sugars in the fruit) Anyone can feel free to add me as a friend if they like0 -
I eat no grains, you can add me as friend and see my diary0

If you search the database there are fruits on here that have a zero sugar count so then it doesn't blow out your sugar. Now the yoghurt may have heaps of sugar, you have to watch that.
For breakfast I have an omelette with various different things in it to keep it interesting.
English muffins (wholemeal 1's) with usually egg/cheese/barbecue sauce. When I'm feeling naughty I'll have bacon. I also like ham/cheese/dijonnaise.
You can get plenty of ideas from peeps on MFP as to what to have for breakfast. For me it all depends on what the weather is like.
Good luck.0 -
The sugar in fruits are natural sugar which is WAY better for you than processed fatty sugary things that we all enjoy. I wouldn't worry too much about your sugar intake (From fruit) unless you are eating too much fruit, cut back if you are. (:
