2 months... 13kg lost.... too quickly??

In 2 months, I have gone from weighing 111.5kg down to 98.5kg.
I have combined eating healthier, with visiting the gym on average 5 days a week. At this stage, I have only been using the cross trainer, but from time to time walk the dogs with my partner.

Has my weight loss been too quick? I plan to incorporate weights into my program shortly.

Look forward to some feedback.

  • I'm in the same boat.

    I've gone from 108kg on 25/08/13 to 99kgs on 30/9/2013

I feel amazing, honestly when I look at my diet immediately before I can see why it's such a quick drop. I'm crosstrainering 4 times a week for an hour and my diet is very strict.

To be honest I think as long as you're eating a balanced diet, keep going!! Don't stop.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, it can come off more quickly in the beginning. When you first start your new lifestyle, a lot of the weight loss may be water weight and the weight loss will slow down and you continue.

After the first month, you should be losing 2 pounds per week or up to 1% of your body weight per week, whichever is higher. If you are losing more weight than that after the first month or so, you may want to increase your caloric intake.
  • I am still losing weight at a good rate, and by good rate I say between 1-1.5kg a week.
I usually burn approx 1000 calories in a gym session, but last night, managed 1.5 hours and smashed out 1500 calories...

The best thing is that I havent pulled up sore the next morning, so I can do another good session (probably 1000 calories) tonight.

There is no specific coloration between the speed of weight loss and gaining it back. What matters is that you make life changes that you can sustain for the rest of your life.

Some people drop huge amounts of weight in the first few months. Especially if you are big & have not been used to any exercise or healthy eating.

Don't knock it, go with it. If it isn't making you sick, just keep going. Congratulations by the way

With all due respect, I don't know of a sport where in a gym you can burn 1500 calories in 1.5 hours. You might want to check your numbers again, so you don't get used to logging too much burned, because it influences how much you eat and that in return affects how much you lose. I have never heard of anyone burning 1000 calories in one hour......unless you weigh at least 260 pounds and do an hour of jumping rope or spinning without stopping......then 1000 calories an hour are possible, but unfortunately most people who weight this much are not able to skip rope or spin for an hour.
  • Its definitely something I am proud of so far, and dont want to stop.
As mentioned before, I push myself to get to the gym 5 days a week at least, and push myself while i am there.

I have always been solidly built, however over the past couple of years, my lifestyle, and the foods I had chosen to eat, along with a lack of exercise had allowed me to put on approx. 10kg.

In 2 months, I have lost that, and dropped below 100kg for the first time in close to 3 years.

I aim to hit approx. 85kg, maintain that weight but also "bulk up" through weights...
  • Ang,
I currently weigh just under 220lbs.
90 minutes solid of cross trainer, burning approx 16.5 calories per minute will get you there...
