Weight Loss question?

I should rephrase my question.

What is the healthy calorie amount a 190 person should eat a day?

  • Personally, I do 1200 calories, workout 30 minutes five days a week...my weight yoyos.. I sill lose some, gain it back, lose more. The good news is the ups and downs keep going lower.

    1) With 25lbs to lose, I'd only expect to average 1lb per week loss. I don't think 2lbs per week is realistic at this point. The closer you are to your goal, the slower the weight will come off.

    2) Being a guy, you should eat more than 1200-1300 calories a day. Unless of course you don't mind losing a lot of LBM. You should focus more on making a lifestyle change and eating the way you plan to for the rest of your life. To throw some numbers out there for you (I don't know your height, so I'll guess at say 5'10):
    **all these are estimates**
    Sedentary (little to no exercise) :
    2268 calories to maintain
    1928 to lose 0.7lbs per week
    1815 to lose 0.9lbs per week

    1-3 hrs/wk light exercise:
    2599 calories to maintain
    2209 to lose 0.8lbs per week
    2079 to lose 1lb per week

    3-5 hrs/wk moderate exercise:
    2930 calories to maintain
    2491 to lose 0.9lbs per week
    2344 to lose 1.2lbs per week

    Click on Apps at the top of your screen............ Click on BMR below it....... Enter your info........ If you laid in bed 24 hours a day you would need almost 1900 calories a dsy to survive PLUS your exercise calories. Males need a MINIMUM of 1500 a day.
