    Yay Welcome!

Does everyone want to share their story?

Mine is LONG but I will try to summarize a bit. We got married in 2000 and never used BC but didnt really know about charting or anything. My DH is a smoker so I always thought it might be an issue. In 2002 I got a surprise PG after 2 years of no protection. That PG ended after 11 weeks, and then we started charting after that. It took another 2 years and in 2004 got PG again but had a MC at 8 weeks.

It has been 6 years since then. I chart off and on, and we go on a lot of breaks. We saw the RE for the first time last year, and DH had his first SA which was bad. He got 15 mill./ml which isnt terrible, but he only gave 0.2 ml. so it was only 2 mill. total sperm. He is supposed to get a repeat done, but its $275 so we havent done it yet.

That's where we are now! We have around a 2% chance every cycle to get PG on our own. If Fertility Blend doesnt help him, our only option is IVF. Definitel ydont have $20,000!

So weight loss is kind of our last-ditch effort.

Hey all! I've been in the ttc boat for 2 years now. We did all the basic tracking stuff for the first 6-7 months. Went on to clomid twice, femara twice, then moved onto femara & injectibles & iui's (three times). I have pcos, so there were several months that I dealt w/ a cyst. My only symptoms of pcos are irregular cycles (longest being 60days) & occasional cysts.

Over the last two years, I've gained 15-20lbs (10 of it being in the last cycle or two of IUI's). I blame it mainly on the meds & not being able to do my normal workout durning the dreaded two week wait ;)

We are now contemplating doing IVF...unfortunately... & my dh thinks he/we should get a guarantee that it'll work the first time, since it's so much money - if only, right!?

I wish you could have a guarantee! Our clinic will offer a deal though, if you pay for 3 IVFs upfront at a discount. At least you get 3 tries! But yeah, around $15000 for one IVF cycle is a lot to gamble on.

Yeah, our clinic also has "deals" (if you can even call it that, spending that kind of money!). Ours is $9500 w/o meds for 1 fresh cycle.... but the one I think would be better is 1 fresh + 1 frozen + ICSI for $11,900 w/o meds. They have others as well, but those are the main ones...

For the meds, I was thinking about checking out the Compassionate Care Program to see if we'd be eligible for free meds for the first cycle. We've already spent tons on the iui meds. Stupid infertility ;)
  • Hi everyone,

In a nut shell, my husband and I have been married for 2.5 years and been trying to conceive since we got married. We tried the normal 1 year wait and see, but decided that we needed to talk with a RE. I was diagnosed with PCOS and I have very irregular (often non-existent) periods. Since going to RE we had 6 cycles of clomid, 1 IUI cycle and 1 cycle injections with timed intercourse. We decided to get a second opinion since we felt that we were not moving along with the treatment. The new doctor found some serious errors in the first RE's work and now we have officially switched. They said that I was not ovulating and that I needed to be on a higher dosage. Currently I just started my cycle with the help of Provera and will undergo a HSG test this Friday.

As I mentioned before our doctor did say that I should try to lose some weight. I am about 5 foot and about 40 pounds over weight. At our wedding i was about 20 pounds lighter, but quickly put the weight back on. I've tried the WW thing before, but with the cost of the infertility out of pocket, we simply can't afford a gym or weight watchers.

Sorry about the PCOS mareski :( Issues like that make it SO hard to TTC. Good luck in losing weight here! It really is super easy and basic as long as you eat your calories and exercise regularly. I have done it before, went off progam.. gained it back and am now back again to try it again. I dont do great every day, but I try my best!

mareski - Good luck w/ the HSG.... be prepared!! They are no fun. Mine was the worst pain I've ever been in in my entire life. Not trying to scare you, just be prepared. I wish I was. I was told it was just like bad menstral cramps - ya, no problem.... but that was so NOT the case (and my tubes were clear). Make sure to take some medicine before and after your appointment. Good luck!!!

And so far, my day is sucky. I never believed people when they said they gained weight overnight when TOM was around. I believe it now. I gained 3lbs over night. What the heck!? At least my pants still fit :)

I never noticed if I gain wght or not during AF time, hopefully it goes right back down after your TOM is over!

My day is sucking too! I left work early because my tooth was hurting (getting root canal done soon) but I was starving so I ate lunch and it's still killing me. Took some tylenol and taking a nap soon. I wanted to go to Curves tonight, so hopefully I feel ok later on.

I think u and I are in the same boat...did you not get an ultrasound while on low dose of clomid? How was doctor number one so sure u were ovulating?
  • When on the low dose of clomid, they would have me start the clomid. It wasn't until about CD 14-15 they would bring me in for ultrasound. In order to know I was ovulating these would do a progesterone test after the fact (about CD 28).
  • Hey everyone... I joined this site because i have been seeing a fertility specialist for over a year now... nothing works... even clomid didnt make me close to ovulating... so im just looking for some friends with the same goals :)

Hello every one! My husband and I have been trying for about 8 months now and I just went to a specialist 2 weeks ago. We have been married for about 2 years. I have been so worried because they found a lot of large cysts on my right ovary, last month the dr. said I did not ovulate. I go back again on the 28 for a follow up and to tell me what is going on. We are going to try the LH kit this month. As far as my weight goes, I only have about 9 lbs to lose, but lately I have been so down and I am an emotional eater. I am trying to stay positive, because it has only been 8 months, but it is hard to focus on anything else. I am here for you all and I am so sorry you all are going through this. I would love to be part of this group :)

    Hi All!
Just thought I would check out this thread. My hubs and I have been TTC for about a year and half. Its been a week sense I found out I have PCOS. So I am currently trying to lose the weight and get my cycles back on try. We have been told to start using the ovulating kit to see how often its happening. So our current goal is to lose some weight by April 11 which is my next appointment and then if that doesn't work then go on meds. I am not excited about that, because I don't like meds. So I am believing in God all the way. He is my healer! and if he chooses to bless me with a child then no PCOS is going to stand in the way. Thanks for the thread looking forward to all the support and supporting others. Have a blessed day!

    Hello all,

My husband and I have been TTC for over 3 1/2 years. My husband was diagnosed with non-obstructive azoospermia. Due to that our only option is IVF. I am currently trying to loose weight per our RE since he states it will improve our chances of a success. We had been set to do IVF in March of 09' but we both lost our jobs and only recently have both become employed. We are hoping to do our 1st IVF cycle in September or October. I am so far down 10lbs and hoping to loose as much as I can since I heard that each cycle can add about 25-30 pounds. I am glad this thread is here as it is difficult going not only through the weight loss journey but the infertility journey at the same time. I wish you all luck!

    Hi Everyone!

I conceived my child with the help of Clomid. I had my mirena removed and had a sonogram after months of trying the natural way. I am VERY impatient so I scheduled an appt with my OBGYN. She saw cysts in my ovaries and I started a strong birth control to help decrease the size in the cysts. I weighed 203 at the time and height 5'8.5". Well, after 5 months of provera and birthcontrol...the cysts went down in size to start clomid. I have never ovulated right. Well, to make a long story short. I had Whitney June 30, 2010. I weigh 162.5 so I am hoping to conceive the next and last child the natural way due to the weight loss. Good luck everyone!

Hi Ladies ! I've been TTC since 2007 - so almost 4 years here to! I also have PCOS.

    My Story:

Hubby and I were engaged for 3 years, at which we finally decided to get married in 2007. In June of 2007 - 2 months before our wedding - we decided to start trying to have a baby. We tried from June 2007 - November 2008 with no luck! .. We had sex one night early Nov. 2008 and I started bleeding pretty bad so we were worried and called for an appt. At which I found out I had PCOS.... off to an RE.. we went to an RE from Jan 2009- August 2009, where we went through month after month of treatments, 3 rounds of Clomid, 2 IUI"s and tons of BFNs. Then we got into a motorcycle accident in August of 2009 the day before AF showed and I was suppose to start injectibles. Needless to say that didn't happen, as we were out of commission for 3 months! .. In Janruary of 2010 my company changed insurance carriers and I had to go to Humana HMO.. which has been giving me a hard time ever since trying to get referred back to a RE. .. So we have just been trying naturally, with induced AF from prometrium, I recenlty found out from getting tests done (trying to get referred) that I also have hypothyroidism. So that's just an added check on the road less traveled! ... I lost 30lbs last year, hubby lost 110lbs.. so I am hoping to lost anoterh 70lbs this year, in hopes to get my BFP!!!

Sticky Dust! to you all .... hoping you get your BFP soon!
  • I am totally in for support group! I have PCOS as well and me and the hubby have been TTC for 3 years. I just had an exploratory lap done and my tubes are clear so hopefully if we can get the hubbys count up we can do our first IUI soon. I am on my 2nd infertility doc. I have tried clomid and it did nothing. I was put on Femera with my new doc and it seems to be working to make me ovulate. I also take 1000mg of metformin. Heres to our 2011 miracles ladies!!

I would like to join. My husband and I have been TTC for five years now. I need a support group. This is very difficult to go through. I want to continue research, testing and move on to treatments in 2011.
  • Hi everyone I think a group is a great idea. Myself and my partner have been TTC for almost 3 years now. We were referred to our local fertility clinic and this month was our 7th month on Norethisterone (to induce AF) and 100mg of Clomid. We did get pregnant back in July but m/c at around 8 weeks. Everytime I see the consultant she asks if ive lost weight, I just find it so hard to lose anything but have started with a new determination... i lost 5kg last year but after the m/c i went back to comfort eating and pretty much put it all back on :(
we've been looking into egg sharing/ivf and if we decide to go ahead I will have to really focus on reducing my bMI to the required levels for the clinic to proceed with the treatment. So no pressure then... :)
