Always getting sick when I start working out and eating righ

I was just wondering if anyone else had this same problem, Once I start eating healthy, taking all my vitamins and working out I always end up getting a cold. Is it just in my head that it happens at these rare times or is it my body trying to reject the new lifestyle and wants Burritos and Tacos with beer versus a healthy meal with water?

    Did not have that problem. If anything I actually started feeling better. Slept better, less heartburn, far fewer hypoglycemic episodes.

    It's all in your head probably. just stick with the healthy lifestyle - it's worth it.
  • This ALWAYS happens to me. Just keep pushing through, it will get better. I rarely get sick any more now that I exercise all the time. :)

    eating right & exercising wouldn't have anything to do with catching a cold. Colds come from germs - wash and/or sanitize your hands especially before touching your face or food and you should be fine. Try Danactive to boost your immunities - drink lots of water & juice and make sure to get enough sleep
  • I've noticed that, I thought it was just me. But yeah, whenever I decide to cut out the bad stuff and take care of myself like I'm supposed to I get sick.

    It's not unusual. Although it is of the good kind, you are putting your body through 'stress', which will 'weaken' your immune system.
  • I would like to believe that maybe it is a type of withdrawal? You know the way an alcoholic kind of goes through withdrawal with booze? I know when I started the alli program (low fat diet) all I wanted was cheesy, fatty goodness lol and I would get headaches and stomachaches because I was depriving my body of what it was used to. Maybe its that sort of thing. Dont let the cold or aches be the thing to stop you from losing. Fight through it, its only temporary! :)

    Are you using a gym? Could be that you're being exposed to colds through the gym equipment. Be sure to wipe down the equipment before and after using.

    This has always happened to me too. This past January I was sure I would get sick, but I told myself this time around I would just not give in to the sickness if it came. Strangely...it didn't...
  • Just using P90x at the house and none of the kids have been sick but school has started back and they can bring home germs

    Could be your body is detoxifying itself, perhaps during this your immune system is being compromised. Just a thought.
  • Could just be a detox type thing. All those toxins leaving your body from the bad processed food is great--but it feels like heck for the first little while...even up to a week! Just stick with it and drink lots of water, you'll feel better eventually :)

    im currently sick at the moment and went through an epic week of exercise and now im sick but im just resting up for a few days and then il be back in action. I think that when you are ill you have to let your body rest and recuperate so your fully over it then when you are ready go back and train. If you keep pumping through you usually end up sick for months on end and every time you start to relax you are ill again

    When you exercise your body temperature fluctuate quite a lot and from one extreme to another, that would be my first guess, also I heard from someone that the brown fat in your stomach also act as a capsule to envelope toxins in your system and when you start really burning fat fast the stuff gets released very quickly and put you into a mild "toxic shock" since your liver and kidneys need to deal with too much too fast.

    Happens to me all the time!

    Any time you "stress out" your body you give the germs a chance to take hold and/or assert themselves.

    Getting tired from working out, or from not eating as much "fuel" as you're used to is a perfect time to get sick.

    It's pretty common. Just roll with it.

  • Wow. I know this was some time ago, but it's seriously offensive to hear someone say it's "All in your head." I have the same issue which is why I stumbled upon this thread. I'm guessing it might be a detox issue, but still... I highly doubt the person making such an off the cuff comment had any medical background what so ever, and had nothing to base much of anything on, other than his own limited understanding.

    I think it's this. When your body gets used to the new routine, your immune function will improve.

    I have the same thing. It's your cortisol levels.
