I have lost 48 LBS and have yet to loose any mass. Why? Is that normal?

I was wondering the same thing about myself. I have only lost 15 lbs and my clothes are looser but haven't dropped a pants size yet. 48 is a lot.... hmmm.

It depends on what size you were to start with and how evenly you gain weight, I am 5'6 and carry weight over my entire body so I lose like 20-25 lbs per size. I think lower sizes are also closer together which is why it seems like people go from a size 10-6 in 30 lbs, I went from an 18 to 16 in 25ish.

    ^this!

    example?

    when I was 230 I wore a tight size 16
    when I was 200 I wore a comfortable 16
    now at a little over 180 I wear a loose 12.

    every body is different :)
