Overeating at parties causes drop in weight?

Hi Guys,
I have recently started a general well-being type thing, eating right, not too much, little bit of exercise. Nothing too big and only a minor weight loss goal (5kg). But I had a question about overeating and parties/cheat days.
Over the last few months I've been to a few parties, at which i have usually eaten well in excess of my usual calorie goal (1270 Net). I'm talking; 1000 calories chocolate, 1000 calories coke, 500 calories rum, 800 Calories of potato chips. and usually a second meal during the night, and maybe a maccas run in the morning. More than 3000 extra calories that night, maybe 5000 all up.
Here's the conundrum, I lose weight.
Every weekend I have one of these cheat nights, I will end up losing 2-3kg and keep it off for the next 2-3 days, mid way through next week (following a very strict 1270Cal) I will be back up to where I was before. Is this just due to dehydration? or water loss or something like that? Or is there some other metabolic processes going on here?
Thanks for the help.

I usually lose a couple of lbs after drinking alcohol due to dehydration.0

Yeah, dehydration. I drank alcohol all day on July 4th this year... weighed in the next morning, down 5lbs. Stayed that way for a day or two until I re-hydrated fully.0

Dehydration from the alcohol sucking up (and flushing out) any nutrients you had... which of course won't be many due to the junk we tend to eat when we drink. It happens to me ALL the time.0

I had the same thing on cheat days. If your body is used to healthy food, it will just be operating one way all the time. If you throw soda and unhealthy foods in, you shock your body into increasing metabolism. but dont so this too much0
