Duromine + Slimfast shakes- will it work? (wheelchair bound)

Hey everyone!
I used to be pretty active on this site until the start of Feb when my ankle (had been having problems for a while) gave out and I had to stop exercising. I got put on a medicine for pain that made me gain 17kgs (even though I never ate junk food).
I had part 2 of my 2 part surgery at the end of July, and have been in a wheelchair 80% of the time since, using crutches around my apartment and that's about it. Still a long road ahead.
I'm 21, and now weigh 100kg (eeeeeek!!!)
My Dr agreed to put me on Duromine (Phentermine), I'm on 15mg for 2 weeks, them move to 30mg. I have a slimfast shake on skim milk for breakfast + lunch (with a salad) and then low carb vege for dinner with approx. 200 grams lean meat for dinner. Also having small portion of home made hummus with carrot celery etc, and an apple, for snacks.
Just wanting to know how people have found weight loss to be on Duromine (how much did you lose/how fast?), what strength were you on? and if you followed a healthy eating plan or just continued your usual diet.
I always eat healthily, loads of quinoa and lentils etc, have loads of allergies so can't eat fast food, or 90% of packaged goods.
I have no problems with the being awake all hrs from Duromine because my other medicine makes me feel extremely lethargic (Duromine makes me feel normal again, yay!!)
Thanks so much for all the help!

It's good that you are under a doctor's care. I know nothing about phentermine, but I wanted to chime in and wish you luck on your journey to health. :drinker:0

I lost 85 lbs in 6 months taking Phentermine and doing low carb which consisted of Low Carb Slim fast shakes.. Yes it works but you may want to take some vitamin supplements with it if you are doing the low car. I lost weight so fast my hair started falling out in clumps. The vitamins helped a lot with that. Good luck!0

Hi! I have been on phentermine in the past, but it made me really cranky (though it did REALLY suppress my appetite). Right now I am on day 5 of my SlimFast diet, and so far I think I am doing really well. I am also taking Garcinia Cambogia and Selenium as a supplement, but it's too early to tell if those are making a difference.
I am documenting every day of my SlimFast diet on my blog page, and I hope that this may help you or anyone else who is going through the same thing, regarding dieting and SlimFast. I'm also posting before pictures and stats, though this is very embarrassing for me!! Maybe writing a blog would help you as well? I find that I am much more motivated, knowing that others will be reading about how I'm doing.
If you think it could help you, please check it out: slimfastmommy.wordpress.com
I wish you lots of luck!0 -
Hi Bree-cheese92,
Just wondering how u going?0 -
Is it possible for you to swim? A long time ago I did the whole aqua therapy thing for my back and it was amazing. Not only did it help with my pain but it made me lose weight too. Most insurances will pay for it as "physical therapy".
I don't like slim fast. I would drink a protein shake or low fat fruit smoothie instead.
I don't know anything about phentermine. I am typically against weight loss medications unless there is a substantial reason for it. So, being in a wheelchair and being supervised by an actual DOCTOR, your probably the exception. Please be careful though.
Good luck in your journey.0
