Sugar Sugar Sugar :)

(note: writing this on behalf of my better half)
Just checked in with the wife's menu today. Breakfast and Lunch right at about 900 calories.
The problem is that no matter what I fix she always doubles her sugar intake.
just this morning, a bowl of mini wheats which she loves, a 4 oz container of yogurt and a honey crisp apple and she's already over the daily suggested allowance of 33 gm of sugar.
So any ideas on how to help or do i just not worry about the 'fresh fruit' sugar?
She still seems to be progressing....

well in the morning move away from the highly processed and sugar filled cereals like mini wheats, and try getting into some museli, and look for light yoghurt, my favourite being thick and creamy light, about 10 grams of sugar in each0

try foods that do not have sugars in them, for me, I eat rice or oatmeal for breakfast.0

If she's seeing results, don't worry about it. This site doesn't split natural sugars and added sugars. The RDA is to limit Added Sugars to less then 25% of your daily intake. I don't know where this site get the ridiculously low sugar numbers when it doesn't split them. Unless she has a blood sugar issue, don't stress the sugar until she quits seeing results.0

Check suger content on side of package.Yogurt has anywhere from 10-19 grams[eat half] Cereal try Cheerios,Fiber One,Wheaties![check side of box] Shoot below 5 grams a serving. Apple Crisp has alot also....Jusy choose other alternatives that you like! If you need the sweetness put on fresh fruit,blueberries,raisins, or apples.0

I think the MFP sugar levels are WAY low. I eat a lot of fruit and whole grains. Those are extremely healthy foods that are high in natural sugars.
So, I just don't even bother tracking sugar. It hasn't affected my losses or my health. Unless your wife is diabetic, she doesn't need to worry about natural sugars.
Out of curiosity, why isn't she tracking her own food?0 -

I guess I'm just curious if this is something she really wants to be doing. And if it is, it's tough to be successful long-term if you give someone else control.0 -
I was seeing this on my diary , i love bananas i usually have one in the morning for breakfast but after writing this in my diary and seeing that just one bannana is over my daily sugar intake i have stopped having them is this the right thing to do i dont eat much sugary stuff anyway and quite shocked to see how much sugar a bannana has0

The natural sugars in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc., are not the same as refined sugars. I don't even pay attention to my sugar intake. I eat a lot of fruit. It makes the sugar I eat look really high, but it's healthy.
Don't stop eating bananas. They are a great source of fiber, potassium and many other vitamins and minerals.0 -
Until she hits a plateau I wouldn't worry. That can be one of the things you guys adjust in your diets. This is what I am doing.
I have a calorie goal
I have an exercise goal
I am currently working on getting some kind of order to my workout schedule.
Then I will work on my food.
one day/week at a time.
Keeps it interesting .0
