REcovery from Foot Blisters?

Options
Hi MFP friends and family!
Recently I began walking 3 miles per day (up from 1 mile a day) and I just got my first foot blister (ouch!)
While I am going to be visiting my shoe specialist that manufactures the custom orthodics I use in my shoe, question remains: take the day off from walking or push through it? What would you do? Any band aids, wraps, salves, oils, etc that anyone would recommend?

depends on the size and location of the blister, if it is small and on your heel, slap a bandaid and go for a walk. if it is huge and takes up half of the bottom of your foot (happened to me) then take a break :)

rest. or do non impact activity like a bike. Get some moleskin, I swore by it after road marches in the army.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! Went to the shoe specialist and he made some adjustments to the orthodics and we also discovered that I wasn't tightening my laces properly - shoes were too lose for those quick walks with up and down hill grades! Blisters are almost all gone. Took it easy yesterday with two 8 minute walks, today another few quick ones, and I'll be back at the longer distances tomorrow!

I know here in South Africa you can buy special Elastoplast blister plasters that cushion the blisters. I've used them on hikes and runs and it's worth getting.
