what is the calorie goal?

Hello ! ツ Im new to fitness Pal. I don't understand the calorie goal? Doesn't the app put in the calories you ned? How can i see how long it will take to lose with certain calorie counts?

    Welcome! When you set up your profile (I think you can reach this again in Settings), you can choose the rate at which you want to lose weight (e.g. 1 pound a week, 1.5 pounds, etc) and MFP will generate a calorie goal for you based on the rate you choose.
  • You typically fill in your weight & body info, age ect for the program to quantifyhow many calories you need to reach your goal weight. you fill out the diary (i do this on my iphone) the diary is your daily food intake, liquids & exercise .. when you have completed a full day you hit the "complete this entry" button. After you do that it will let you know how long it will take you to reach your goal with your current eating/ exercise habits.

    Keep in mind that weight loss is NOT linear. You may not lose exactly 1.5 pounds a week as indicated. (Or whatever your goal is)
    And these tools are not money back guarantees, they are best estimates. You may need a little more or less calories/exercise.

    But give it time and trust the method and you will see progress.
