Looking for more support!

Hello everyone!! I'm a 27 year old, stay at home mom. I've struggled with my weight off and on for most of my life. After having my second child I was pretty thin and working on getting my body in shape, then I had baby number three. I gained a lot of weight with my pregnancy and most of it stayed on after having my son. I have been going back and forth with diets since I had him but never stuck to any of them for very long. Now he is 18 months old and I am finally in a good place. I found MFP 2 months ago and have been doing great ever since. When I started my goal was to lose 30 pounds and in 60 days I have lost 11! I am very happy with this and even though it's a slow process it is worth it to me. I bought myself a kettlebell and a HRM for losing my first 10 pounds and I love both of them. Now I am at the point where I just need support with me eating. I do eat mainly healthy meals but I struggle with a few things like chips, chocolate and pizza. I don't go overboard and I only eat the serving size when I do have them but I would like to cut these things out of my diet. I would love to find some support from people who can give me more meal and snack ideas!

  • I can't cut those things out. I have 4 kids in the house who would rebel. I just plan for them and make it fit. Beside I love a good slice or 2 of pizza too! FR sent.
  • Brand new to site and looking for more support myself. I am newly a kinda stay at home mom. In August i changed my work schedule to only Friday and Saturday nights to accomodate a kindergartner starting school. I boredom ate and gained some weught quick! Trying to figure out how to eat and snack without going overboard.

I am using emeals and i do not prepare every meal but get at least 3 a week usually. A worthwhile investment in my household.
  • I actually think they key to my success, so far, has been allowing myself to eat "bad" at least once a week. I'm really just trying to cut the chips out but I need something else cruncy to take their place!

It sounds like you've made awesome progress already so congrats! My wife stays home with our kids too and she too had to lose the weight each time and it was not easy for her, took a while, but she stuck with it and lost it just like you did.

Honestly, I wouldn't cut those things out of your diet. I would just limit them more. If you cut all sweets and junk food out of your diet its going to build up over time and then you're just going to binge or possibly revert back to your old habits again. Ask me how I know, haha! I lost weight by cutting out all that stuff and then I just reverted back to my old habits. This time around I'm still eating the junk food now and then, but I've limited it big time, so I still get to have it, but its not causing me to gain weight.

I find it easier to just have a couple items in the house of junk food (i.e. chips, sweets, etc) and have a small portion now and then and then stock the house full of mostly healthy stuff. That way its more realistic and less strict. You're more likely to follow and stick with a realistic plan than a super strict plan.

HEY! I'm a stay-at-home mama, too, and I'm also 27! I have been on the wagon since last November, and have definitely had slow loss. I eat at BMR now (used to eat 1200, learned the error of my ways with a big, fat plateau), use 40/30/30 for my macros (which I watch very closely) and I eat ANYTHING that fits those. Ice cream almost everyday, because I love sweet things. :)

You've done a great job and I hope you're enjoying the changes! Before you know it, you'll be at your goal! Trust the process. :)
