Do you have to eat your Daily Fat?

MFP has determined that my daily fat goal is 57 grams. On a regular day I only take in between 20-30 grams.
What happens if I don't take in the recommended daily allowance?
Am I doing myself any harm, will I lose less weight (I wouldn't think so)?
I just naturally don't eat a low fat diet. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Please go do some research on:
    paleohacks.com
    marksdaily apple.com
    balancedbites.com
    dietdoctor.com

Or, just put the word "Paleo" into your search box.

I thoroughly ENJOY consuming all my fat each day--
    butter
    olive oil
    bacon
    coconut oil
    home-made mayonnaise
    bacon
    beef
    the skin of baked chicken

Also, there are recipes for "Fat Bombs",
which are dessert-like goodies to help the fat consumption.

As I lose weight, I eat plenty of fat as fuel for my body.
If my body requires glucose for some function, there is plenty
of stored fat which can be converted to glucose again.

Best Wishes on your Weight Loss Journey!

Fat is extremely essential to healthy cellular function, among other things.

Your body needs to consume dietary fat in order to burn body fat.

I'm not trying to eat low fat, I just don't eat butter or cook with oil etc... & I have always stayed away from peanut butter & other high fat foods, It's just the way I was raised.
I am definitely going to research this & try to update my diet accordingly.
Thank you for the responses, I am incredibly shy & have been reading posts on the site for weeks now without ever joining in, but I'm glad I did.

if you eat a bunch of non saturated fats, good. If you eat some saturated fats, also good.
    Fats are not the enemy.
And if you don't meet your fats "goal" for the day, that is definitely not a problem.
In short, the caloric intake is the key. It's great to have a balance of course, but being off one way or the other on a macro is not a deal breaker. Good luck in your quest.

You're still getting an adequate amount of fat so if you're calories are not too low I wouldn't worry about it. However when shopping I dunno if you do but try not to buy as many low fat versions of things as they're normally filled with more sodium or refined sugars to improve the taste and you might up your fat intake a bit that way. I try to get my fat from whole food sources such as nuts, avocados etc. but I do cook with a little oil now and again to saute veggies and things, maybe try sprinkling some peanuts over stirfried veggies or including some avocado or hummus in your salads/sandwiches. Hope this helps! :)

It's very important to eat enough fat. Many hormones, including some sex hormones, depend on it. It's also good for your hair, skin, nails, etc.
