Body Fat %

I need suggestions on the best way to determine bf% without using the pinch test. I have tried different calculators online and each one gave me a different answer.

No online calculator will be accurate. For accuracy you need a dunk test, Bodpod or dexascan. The rest are all just guesses.

Hydrostatic analysis or calipers. Calipers are like 5 bucks online and they're pretty accurate as far as bf% estimation methods go. Hydro (dunk) tests are 50+ bucks and only slightly more accurate than calipers. The main thing is just that the number goes down.

Trust me on this, though, no online calculator will get anywhere close.
  • Hydrostatic Weighing is considered, by most, the most accurate affordable method for measuring body fat and lean mass percentages. Go online to find a location; usually in a medical facility. Always return to the same location, same professional and same time of day for best results.

    hydrostatic or bodpod.

if you are somewhat lean, you can post a pic, and we might be able to give you a roundabout.

    The calculators are worthless.

Calipers aren't especially accurate at giving you an exact %, but at least you're actually measuring something. You can directly see how the thickness of fat on parts of your body changes over time.

What does bump mean? I see that a lot in forums but never got the meaning.

It means the thread was going too low in the queue and the person who "bumped" it wanted to get it back to the top of the queue in order to get more responses.

Actually, you responding to a thread is the only way to save it in your top 20 recent topics to find it again to read later.

    So you bump it.

The other reason mentioned above would normally be done by fans or the OP of the topic, if it had no action lately.

Majority are for ones to read it later.
