Uum.... Macros?

So I am new to calorie counting. I've already made big changes in my lifestyle in the first steps of not eating out as much and cooking my own food as well as figuring out my calorie intake. I allow myself 1500 cals net for weight loss. I did the scooby's workshop calculator and it set my macros at 40c/40p/20f but I'm really struggling with going over always on fat and carbs and not hitting enough on the protein. How do you guys make sure you keep things in your macros/eating enough of them? Do you just meal plan and make sure it always stays within that and that's how you choose what meals you will eat? Is there a certain percentage that is more balanced (I'm shooting for fatloss)? I feel like when I start reading about macros for some reason I get really confused because the information isn't ever the same.. has anyone had any better luck/success than me on this? Maybe there is a simplified version? Thanks.

Unless you have some specific goal in mind don't worry about macros. Just stay in your budget and you'll be fine. It's interesting to look at them just to see what items you could maybe cut back on or add more of but in the longer run don't sweat the macros.

I think that it's difficult at first for most people to hit the 40% protein macro.

I work pretty hard to get it to 80grams a day. Which won't be enough next year when I move to bulk.

The reason why you need extra protein while losing weight is to help preserve the muscle mass you currently have, which is very difficult to build later. But it isn't going to help you lose extra fat if you hit your macros everyday.

Just do your best, but it isn't worth stressing over, it's more important to hit your calorie goal.

Okay that's helpful to hear. I've been doing pretty well at staying at 1500 cals, I just didnt know if I should be concerned at those red numbers in the macros that keep staring at me....
