It seems everyone I know has a sweet tooth. Is there anyone else out there like me who prefers some salted buttered popcorn or a bag of potato chips over sweets?
If so, do you feel we have an added advantage built in because we don't crave sugar as much?
Sugar is only a trigger for me when I use it to cook. When I cook teriyaki chicken I can't stop eating it. However, with sweets, I does not bother me if I go months without a candy bar or ice cream.

Me!
I will occasionally want something sweet but most of the time I will go for the salty crunchy stuff every time. I don't use salt when I cook and try to watch my sodium very closely. I don't know if I feel like it's an advantage considering the water retention you get if you pig out on chips and also the calories are really not that different for the same weights if you are looking at a chocolate bar vs a bag of chips.
Not craving sugar as much definitely makes it easier to bypass desert tables and office snacks since you aren't normally going to have people bringing in chips or pretzels but you still need to watch out for it.
Now if you really want trouble get some Chocolate Covered Potato Chips :P

I almost NEVER want sweets. My biggest downfall is salty foods for sure; I had a french fry problem! But I find it's easier to find lower calore/fat salty food than that of sweets, so I've been doing well in avoiding fries! =P0

I never crave sweets which makes me force fruits down, sometimes I sprinkle salt on them to make them more palatable (gross I know). Does make holidays easier since I don't eat all the goodies.0

I crave both at different times...0

No big deal on sweets. But cheese stuff (pizza, nachos, etc) make me happy.0

Me!! or savoury! take it over sweet ANY time0

I could also goes months with out candy bars or ice cream, but if I have it in my house I normally cant keep myself away. I do however have a huge issue with chips and salsa. I could seriously eat an entire bag of chips and salsa in one sitting.
Does anyone have an idea of somethig I can eat with salsa other than tortilla chips?0 -
My husband. I need chocolate LOL0

I'm like that, but I don't think it helps with weight loss, since most of the foods we eat at meals are salty. Hard to resist seconds helpings!0

I love both. I eat something sweet, then want something salty, then need more sweet, then more salty... I never get tired of food.0

I like carrots or celery dipped in salsa! I also put salsa on salad in place of a salad dressing. Actually, I will put salsa on just about anything0 -
So glad I'm not alone lol. I can't stand sweet stuff. Salty yes. Anything sweet literally makes me feel sick - guess that's a good thing since so many are addicted to sugar.0

I got over sweets around the time I turned 21. I much prefer savory and cheesy or meaty (or both). I wouldn't necessarily say I crave salty though.0 -

This.... I can eat burgers and fries every day but never pick up anything sweet. When I was a kid, I was the only kid who had Trick or Treating candy until the next Halloween. :laugh:0 -

I like sweets but salty is what I crave. It has to be crunchy too though. I love, love, love chips, crackers, etc. Now on occasion I do crave sweets, but I want it salty too thus I go for stuff like Payday candy bars, Salted Caramel popcorn, etc.0

Ohhh me, me! Don't get me wrong, sweet is yummy but I totally have to be in the mood for it. I LOVE the salty, spicy & sour stuff!0

I am a big fan of both. I have some black salt dark chocolate caramels that I ration out. I have to make them last until we visit my inlaws again as the Chocolate shop we get them from is down there. That's Christmas, I'm gonna run out by then...0
