New and need friends.

I am new to this tracking on a computer kind of thing. Could use some friends for motivation and support.

I am a big guy. I have a great wife and two wonderful daughters, 4 and 2 years old. I will be 42 years old next month and realize I am spiraling down to a place that I don't want to be. I need to lose a lot of weight. I want to start running, but I am starting slow. So, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great that you have made this decision! Start very slowly, all walking at first, and build a foundation. Build strength slowly so that you don't get injured. Consider getting a heart rate monitor so you can keep an eye on your exertion level and stay in the fat burning zone. Example: Polar FT4, about $50. Do some research; there are lots of training strategies out there for how to gradually move from walking to jogging to running. There are some amazing stories on this site, you should find some very motivating people! Log everything, every day. Best of luck to you in your efforts!

...And friend me if you like. I log every day and like to look at my friends' diaries for meal ideas and exercise motivation.

I just added you as a friend ???? The support you get here is amazing, log everything and start slow. There's lots of apps and info out there to get you started on running. I never ran in my life and didn't think I could, started the couch to 5k app in January and I'm really enjoying running now, I've ran two 5k races in pretty good time and I've even run 10k in training something I never thought I could do. The benefits are so much more than weight loss, you'll have more energy, better muscle definition, and you'll be inspiring your family and friends so go on and give it a try! I'm on here throughout the day every day so if you have any q's or need someone to kick you out the door for a run I'll be there!
