The Last 20

Hi everyone! :flowerforyou:

My name is Jenn; I've actually been using MFP for quite a while now to track my calories and macros, but never very religiously. I finally decided to get more strict about it to see my eating patterns and figure out where I'm going wrong, and so far have been tracking for 40 days straight. Whoo!

Anyhow, I've lost about 40 pounds already since 2011. I'm still having a lot of problems losing my last 20 or so, but I'm also strength training quite a bit now - and I know the scale number can be deceiving. Luckily I have a personal trainer who is tracking my body fat %, and he assures me the numbers are creeping their way downward.

Some days are beyond frustrating - it seems like what works for a couple days stops working the next day without warning. I'm experimenting with my carb intake and can't seem to figure out my "perfect" number. I also know that dairy makes me temporarily gain weight, which is misleading. I'm trying not to obsess over the scale, but it does bring me down sometimes, and I do have slip-ups once in a while.

I'm hoping that being part of a supportive community will really help me stick with it, even on the bad days where I want to chuck my scale out the window and eat cookies while I cry.

Nice to meet you all! :)

Wow, 40 down! I'm not even close to my "last 20", but I know that the closer you get, the much MUCH more difficult it becomes to shed them. If you've been working your body fat % down, you're definitely making that progress, even if you don't necessarily see it on the scale. I also don't want to push more metrics at you, since obsessing over any part of it obviously isn't great, but if you're ever unhappy with your scale progress, try out a tape measure and keep track of your body measurements if you don't already with your personal trainer. Sometimes we be losing inches and not even realize it.

    Anyhow, glad you're here, Jenn!
  • That's great you're getting back on track so am I. I joined awhile back but never really came on here either. BUT I also am going to be more strict. So I'm on the ball and will be dieting and determined to reach my goal. I would love it if we could help each other and offer advice andmotivation ^__^
  • Jason - thanks for the welcome again! My trainer is taking measurements and body fat every 2-3 weeks, but I always doubt myself during those in-between times where my weight stays the same and I'm like... uh... is it working? :indifferent: But I'm getting better at letting the numbers go and not obsessing quite so much.

Zazazaful - thanks for the add, and good luck on getting back on track too! We can definitely help each other out, I hope you're feeling better than you were a few days ago!
