Appetite Suppressent Questions

I'm on some very strong appetite suppressant medication which my doctor prescribed in line with a diet and exercise plan but I'm having trouble eating enough to gain all the the nutrients I need or even to eat the minimum number of calories needed in a day

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this???

If it were me, I'd talk to my doctor about getting off the appetite suppressants.
  • I must ask if you tried to make this lifestyle change without the medication? I wonder if you really need it... I do know that if you don't eat enough, you can seriously impact your health. You can potentially damage your thyroid, make it more difficult for your body to let go of excess weight, and create various other health problems.

Did you make your goals, current fitness, and lifestyle clear to the doctor?

My advice, go back to the doctor and tell him/her about this problem. They may elect to decrease your dosage or even take away the medication entirely.

^Me too. It sounds like they are counter-productive to your goals.

Yep, unless you want to be medicated for the rest of your life!

protein shakes, avocado, nuts, a good multivitamin ... these are of course all short term solutions and perhaps you could talk to your doctor about weaning yourself off the medication, but see how you go. Good luck :-)

can i ask what his reasons for putting you on them was at such a high dose? you have less than 100lb to lose, so its not like you are critically over weight?
