Standing up to the wrong kind of flattery - NSV

In the last month and a half since joining MFP, I've lost around 19 lbs through clean eating and exercise. It feels awesome! It also feels excellent to notice the physical changes that are beginning to compliment my new healthy regiment. However, sometimes, other people begin to notice as well in a not-so-appropriate way...

A week ago it was a friend's birthday party at the local pub. I could finally fit back into my skinny jeans from last year, so I was stoked to rock them with a black satin shirt and heels! I was comfortable, and had a blast catching up with my friends. Those jeans caused a little bit of drama though... I was walking to the bar to get a drink, and a complete stranger rudely grabbed my butt - HARD. I wasn't going to let that fly. I turned around, tapped him on the shoulder, got right in his face and yelled "Did I ask you to touch me? Don't ****ing touch me!" He was completely flustered and responded with a meek "****, sorry..." and I strut off while his friends all laughed at him. Maybe I can chalk my bravery up to a little bit of liquid courage, or maybe its just that I don't stand for that kind of invasion of my space and character anymore. Or both. Either way, I took some pride in the fact that I now have the confidence and self-respect to stand up to unsolicited "flattery". I don't care who you are what your intention is, touching another person's body without a blatant invitation or mutual compliance is just PLAIN WRONG.

Anyone else have a story about this type of consequence of losing weight?

I would have tapped him on the shoulder and been like, "You like what you see? Yeah?" Then taken his drink and dumped it over his head and then walked off. I hope you reported him to a bouncer or bartender for harassing females.

It's a good thing that didn't happen to me, because I would have slapped the guy. HARD. You did the right thing by confronting him, and non violently at that. I wouldn't have stopped until I broke the guy's nose. People like that, men AND women, disgust me.

We need more of that so people don't think it's going to be tolerated. Thanks for standing up to him.

Thanks for the support! Hopefully he'll think twice about invading someone's personal space like that again. (Though I'm afraid it's unlikely...)

Good for you. You're looking great.

I get my *kitten* grabbed every now and again in clothes stores as odd as that sounds.

Also at one of the gyms I go to there a couple females that are always rubbing my mid-section when they say hi to me, one has crept up and hugged me me from behind when I was in between sets. Real creepy...
  • well done! what a pathetic guy, sad really. naturally he probably ****** his pants when you told him off.

That's highly inappropriate at any weight. A random stranger grabbing your *kitten* isn't flattery, it's battery. You handled the situation much better than I would have. I don't even like people tapping me on the shoulder.

You did the right thing! I probably would have slapped him hard across the face. When I was twenty, two guys kept following me around the drugstore commenting about my "nice (insert vulgar word for breasts here)". They wouldn't leave me alone. I got in line and they came in behind me still making comments. I asked the checker to please have them escorted out of the store because they were harassing me but the checker looked like he was too afraid to confront them (they had that ghetto gangster look) and told me to just chill. Once again they verbalized their vulgar thoughts right there in the line in front of other people and I just snapped. I grabbed the closest thing to me, a large tube of toothpaste that had just been rung up, and I smacked the guy right across the face with it as hard as I could. He was stunned and extremely pissed but they left me alone after that.
