Hi! I just wanted to share an update on my progress.
It has been a long journey for me. I started in January 2012 and I hope to reach my goal weight of 154 lbs by January 1, 2014. I have been religiously logging, watching what I eat and getting regular exercise for the last year and nine months. In March 2013, I signed up for my first 5K and running has really helped me push harder on my goal weight. I have finished three 5Ks so far and I have my first 10K this coming weekend. I am even signed up for a half-marathon in Philly next year! This is not something I EVER thought I would do (fat or trim) in the past and I have to say I am even more proud of my running than the weight loss.
My best advice is not to be too hard on yourself - and realize that when we overeat we are trying to "feed" something else - stress, anxiety, pain, even happiness! Work on dealing with your feelings by treating yourself right and not self-medicating with food - that has been the hardest part of my journey by far - WAY harder than picking up running - and something I will battle for the rest of my life.
Best of luck to everyone here!
