Heavy menstrual spotting after weight loss?

I lost 7 pounds within the last 6 weeks and have now been spotting heavily for the past week, despite being on the BC pill (Chateal) and taking it on time daily. I'm really nervous, anyone have any advice?

Why even ask here.....go to a doctor.
  • Do you normally spot between your periods? Some people do I think, is there a possiblity that you might be pregnant?- as in are you sexually active, not are you taking your birth control correctly.

I'm about 16lbs down, after I lost my first say 7 pounds, despite being on BCP and not missing a pill I had a very heavy and long TOM. After I lost to where I am (because weight loss stalled/I gained a bit due to being on vaca and out of my usual schedule), I have started spotting. Now, spotting outside of my TOM is not unusual for me as I'm on BCP non-stop due to having a chronic gyne condition.

So, yes, I've had issues and problems with spotting both heavy, light and full blown. Unfortunately my health insurance doesn't cover BCP so while I can go to a doctor, I can't get the kind of BCP that I really need as it's beyond my financial ability to get it as often as I need it from Hong Kong.

I would agree that if it concerns you, especially if taking BCP go see your doctor.

ETA: as you lose weight you should probably expect your monthly to switch up a bit.

I've had issues with spotting as well. I have lost 35 pounds in the past six months and everything began normally. But in the last few months, my periods have been preceded by "false alarms", episodes of spotting before the actual menstruation starts. I think your body needs to take time to adjust hormone levels to its new weight.

This is too important to speculate about or to compare notes with other women. See your doctor.
