Half Marathon Runners

Hi. I've been on MFP for a little over a year. I started running in Sept 2012. I have done multiple 5k's and a 10k in the past year. I was signed up to do the Pittsburgh Half Marathon in May, but had an injury. Now I have come back for vengeance. I am planning on doing the Santa Hustle Half Marathon in Cedar Point on December 15th. Only 10 more weeks left, and training is going very well.
Anyway, are there are any other runners training for a half in the next few months? I would love to be friends and share our training stories and tips

I have one coming in January and another in February. I'm doing the Tinkerbell Half Marathon in Anaheim, CA in January. Then in February, I'm doing the Princess Half and that one is in Florida. Now the one in February has an additional challenge where we do a 10K the day before and then the Half Marathon the next day. I've done the Tinkerbell Half before, but it will be my first time doing the Princess Half. I've always wanted to do that one.
I'm glad to hear your training is going well.

Love the half marathons training.. between that and MFP I have lost 40 pounds!!! ( and I don't have to have knee surgery yet)0 -

I was shocked as well at how fast it sold out. I remember the Princess Half going on sale at 8a.m. and then completely sold out by 5p.m. I hear it is too crowded to even run, however I'm still looking forward to it. I really just want the medal.0 -
I run half marathons on a regular basis (at least I did in 2013) and I'm thinking about a full sometimes in the spring! My next one is this Saturday, but I plan to sign up for others as soon as possible. I will send a request, I LOVE having other running pals Highly motivating.
I also run almost every day (I won't in the next 3 weeks due to international travel, but I will come back with a vengeance in Nov) - so I hope we will cheer each other up in the next months.0 -

That's awesome! Just sent you a FR0

Hi! Can I send a FR? I did four 5k's this summer. I'm doing another in a couple weeks and am doing a 6 miler (don't ask me why they didn't just make it a 10k!) in a month. My first half will be in April. I'm contemplating whether I need to get another 10k in before the half and I think I'll try to find one in March or Feb. I tried to register for one of the Disney ones too (FL) and it was all sold out. My best girlfriend did the half in Florida last year (the Princess one) and she said it was actually SO crowded it was impossible to run for a really long time. She said it was fun but it kind of sucked because of that. She was dodging people for MILES.
I really need friends who jog and who are on MFP!0 -

I'm in for some support! I just started training for a half in April. It's actually going to be my third, but I've had a whole year off running, after an injury about a year and a half ago - I struggled to keep running for 5 or so months after the injury but in the end it was just too hard. So I feel like I'm almost starting again from nothing. Planning to do a 5k and a 10k along the way.0

I'm not running a half marathon anytime soon, but I am getting back in to running after a shoulder injury... I didn't want to risk dislocating it again in case of a fall (it's how I dislocated it the first time)! I'm hoping to run several half marathons next summer and hopefully a marathon.
Anyone feel free to add me. I trade encouragement with my friends0 -
I am actually running my first Half this coming Sunday as well in Long Beach,CA. Its actually the first race I am doing so I am not looking to PR I just want to cross that finish line!. I have kinda started my racing program a little backwards. Doing the half and then a week later on 10/20 I am running a 5k with another 5k scheduled already for Dec. I have only been running since May and have not quite mastered a training program. But I am getting it done.. Feel free to send a FR I like having running buddies!!0

Oh, and I did the Princess HM in 2012. Definitely not the place to PR, but fun!!0

Disney races sell out quick The Disney Dumbo Double dare will open sometime in January.. look on the Run Disney site for information.. the challenge last year sold out in three hours...but the half stays open a bit longerI have one coming in January and another in February. I am a run/walk person. In my wildest dreams I never thought I would like it as much as I do. So far I have done 3 5K's this year and one 7 K. This coming Sunday I am doing my first half marathon (Rock and Roll in Denver). The Rock & Roll Marathons are suppose to be a lot of fun. My goal is to finish in 3 hours. I would love to find some running friends, since I highly doubt that this will be my last.0

I haven't signed up for it yet, but I plan to soon: the P.F. Cheng's Half Marathon in Scottsdale, AZ in January 2014.
I have never done more than a 5km run, but I did it rather easily last year on Thanksgiving (Sacramento Race to Feed the Hungry). I am going to be basically training out of a book, while simultaneously completing INSANITY.
3 Weeks after that one, I am doing the Spartan 4.7 Mile mud obstacle course (cart before the horse?)
I could use all the help I can get. Those two will be the pinnacle of my fitness peak. A life accomplishment.0 -
First half was 9/22, second is 10/20 (THIS SUNDAY HOLY CATS TAPER MADNESS)
I love the half marathon distance!0 -
Ran my first half this past weekend. It was the BAA half marathon and last part of the BAA distance medley (5K, 10K and Half Marathon)
2:10:13 and I beat all my running Buddies except one and she's a serious serious runner and 10 years younger than me :P
The 5K of the distance medley happened the day before the Boston Marathon and the finish was at the finish of the Marathon which was cool.
I'm actually going to run my first marathon next July at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (who knew they had one). I've already signed up and we'll be very close to my inlaws then so we'll be spending a week there after the marathon so our Daughter can visit her grandparents.0 -
Nice to meet everyone Doing my first half on Oct 27th - YIKES! I started doing Triathlons a few years ago - my running is the weakest and since I want to start doing longer races, I have to start running longer, LOL! By the end of summer, I could run up to 8k so decided to jump on a 12 week program to half marathon. I'm suffering some shin splints by ramping things up too quickly so I'm going to do my best and know that I'll have to do some walking but hey, its my first. I'd like to spend the winter to continue working on my running but build up gradually.
I'm in Ontario and a lot of people do Around the Bay which is 30k in late March which would be a great start to my tri season... we will see0 -
I have been tinkering with the idea of running my 2nd half. I think I am going to sign up for one in Feb. It is so hot here I wanted to pick a race where I could train in the winter months. Now I just need to sign up and get training!
Feel free to add me as a friend if you want to try to keep up the training motivation together0
