Slow and Steady wins the race - lets be tortises!

Well I have been on MFP for approximately a month - I am enjoying it, but I have come to realise through this and from the message boards - that slow and steady wins the race, I am the tortise. There are so many wonderful people on the boards with such awesome advice, some which has really resonated. Some of the gems which have become my mantra are:
Its not motivation - its discipline - thank you to the OP of this posting I say it over and over particularly when I want to skip exercise.
"Trust the process" - when you don't see the results when you think you should - trust the process. Again thank you again to the OP of this post.
Its about consistency - be consistent with your eating and you will see results, be inconsistent then you won't see the results when you think you should! Thank you OP
It helps with friends - this I have picked up from a lot of MFP posters - I take it on board and so I extend an invitation to become a tortise with me and win the race!

Very good post. Slow is so much better. Too many want to see quick results. You only get out what you put in.0

He speaks the truth! Researchers have found that an insanely high percentage people who lose weight "quickly" are going to gain the weight back and add on a few pounds within a year of their weightloss. You have to make a lifestyle change, find something you can make a real habit of and be consistent. Be so consistent that it is very strange for you to do anything else. Start small, don't change your entire diet or exercise routine over night.0

Totally agreed - Slow and steady is the way forward for me! Thanks0 -
I am a successful tortoise! (Been maintaining happily for over two years now.)
It never bothered me to do it slowly because it wasn't an end game thing for me. It's a lifelong process to get and/or stay healthy and fit. Some months I saw only 1 or 2 pounds progress but it didn't bug me at all. As long as I was moving in the right direction I was cool with it. :drinker:0
