I grew up in Port Charlotte. Born in Sarasota and lived in Tampa for a while. It's a great place!

Sorry, y'all are the only ones to live in Tampa. It's a ghost town.

That's not so bad OP! You'll have the beach all to yourself! Oh! And no lines at Busch Gardens :)

I'd love to go to Busch Gardens, if I was a millionaire and could afford the tickets.

You're a Floridian now. Get your drivers liscenes updated and get in for super cheap. You can get into just about any park down there for super cheap!

Go to a Buccaneers game or at least tail gate just for the experience. Head south to Siesta Key for one of the BEST beaches in the country. It won't take you long to meet people.

All of this. As Tampa is where I'm from, I am officially jealous of you.

Vanessa, you live in Lincoln now? When you tell people you are from Florida, do they look at you like you're crazy and ask what you were thinking like they do to me?

Yes! I get it all the time. I used to explain that Hurricane Charlie devestated my hometown and that there wasn't much to go back to, but then I get the pity look. I miss it so much, but my life is in Nebraska now so I visit as often as I can. There are a lot of Buc's fans here though which is suprising, but I like it!

Bucs fans you say? They must not live in Omaha then.

No, in Lincoln. There was a guy on the news the other day wearing a Buc's coat. I dated a guy in college who was a fan, and at the cemetery I work in there are a few Buc's flags in vases. I used to have season tickets. Sat one row down from the ship. That was back when they won the super bowl. Good times!
Most of my friends are still in Port Charlotte and one who is an ER doc at Tampa General. I am heading back next spring to visit and I plan on holding every single one of them to those drinks they keep promising me!
  • I live in Clearwater. Welcome to the area. Feel free to friend me.

I lived in Tampa for a bit as a kid and I visit every couple years to see family. Love it there! Definitely go to Busch Gardens and take a drive to Saint Petersburg!
  • Hey - sign up for the Busch Gardens annual pass. I pay $6.45 monthly for free parking and admission anytime... I live in Clearwater and we go to Busch after work for peet's sake... :) its AWESOME!!!!

I've been here all my life. The cold springs are wonderful. Clearwater beach, Reddington Beach, Treasure Island are all Awesome!!! Clearwater and Treasure Island are touristie - college kids... Reddington and Indian Rocks are more locals/slower/older... so it just depends on what you want to do.

DONT SWIM ON GANDY OR COURTNEY CAMPBELL CAUSEWAYS!!!! Just dont!!! Unless you liquid-bandaid up any orifice... gross...

millions of killer restaurants - BUT you cannot get any Cuban food in Clearwater/Pinellas County. Only in Tampa and Ybor - ow yeah Ybor is awesome for all ages, all types, ALL TYPES...

what else you wanna know? Florida shrimp and our citrus cant be beat. Any kind of citrus tree, avocados, mangos, pineapples, bananas, kiwi, even olives - you can grow it all.

Been in Tampa for 13+ years now and I love! Originally from Miami but Tampa is right balance of big city and quite getaways, all not very far from each other. Feel free to add as a friend as well!
