I'm interested what everyone else is experiencing. Does anyone else notice that the calorie burn in MFP is over? What does everyone else do?

I think it is too high personally. And many people have told me they use HRM ( heart rate monitors) and it is usually less than a machine and less than what MFP has.

I always log a bit less time personally.. ie, 20 minute walk, I will log 15 minutes.

Yeah I think it's too high for the elliptical. I typically log 30 mins for every 3 miles I do. I do this whether it really takes me 35mins or 42mins.

I've been doing that since mid June when I started and eaten those on top of my calorie goal. I've lost 16lbs, so I think it's working.

They are generally within 10% or so for me. That's accurate enough, in my book.

This. I always log five to ten minutes under my actual exercise time after noticing that the machine readouts (often set to a specific weight, like 160 pounds) didn't match MFP or other estimates I've found online.

for elliptical i use my machine's calculation (you can set your weight) and change the calories burned. i believe theyve introduced the ability to do that :) xx
