Not dropping the weight I'm losing hope

Hi,

I'm right back up to 184. I had lost 6pounds and I've gained them all back every weekend for the last 4weeks. Obviously my dieting isn't being followed on the weekends and it took this long for me to see it. I've been retreating to old habits that don't help with the journey I am on. I want to quit and I have to get away from those who enable me, I have decided to try really hard and fight for this weight loss ten pounds at a time. Going for the sixty wasn't cutting it. Uuuuhhh how long did it take you guys to finally see some great results?

I have been walking every school day at 4.0 mph for eight miles! Two hours a day walking and still I'm here. That fastest I have ever been. I'm so discouraged and so bummed I need positive energy and good advice.

At least in the beginning, you can have no "cheat days". I find that I can completely undo all progress over a weekend. Just resolve to yourself that it's not going to be easier until it's a habit. And, a habit is formed every single day. At least that is what is working for me. Good luck.

I found that when I started REALLY exercising, like running and walking every single day for over a hour, My body retained it's water and I found that I also gained weight. I was at 160, and got to 155 with food changes, and then went up to 158 when I started running. Drink lots and LOTS of water, and keep plugging away. Take recovery days too, and allow your body to catch up!

Look at what your eating. Simple changes add up. Eliminate soda and fries or chips. Start small. Make sure you eat. Add salads. Just keep doing it you will get there eventually

Thank you all for the replies. Very frustrated with myself. It should be easier and it isn't.

I have had similar problems with weekends being my downfall. I can stay on all week and then I lose control on the weekend just long enough to erase the good that I have done. The good news is that you recognize that this is where you are getting into trouble. One thing that I have really tried to do on weekends is to keep as much as I can the same schedule for eating that I do during the week.

I have noticed that my body gets on a schedule during the week and if I go off that on the weekend I can overeat very easily. If you are doing good all week then there is no reason to not be able to do it over a weekend. Try making sure to eat at the same times over the weekend that you do during the week.

Also pay attention to hunger wants and needs on the later nights of a weekend. One of my biggest challenges has been late snacking on the weekend. If you normally don't have a snack around 11:30 at night on a weekday try and avoid doing it on a weekend. If you do give in, do your best to make good choices and control the portion size.

Little step at a time and you'll get there. Make sure to drink lots of water. And watch what you eat. Try to log everything.

And in addition to weighing yourself, take measurements. :)

I highly recommend daily weigh ins with a charting tool. On the web I like trendweight.com, on my android I like Libra. The charting tool shows you an average weight and this has two huge motivating effects for me:

    (1) you can see steady progress in your line every day; but if you look at the scale weights (diamonds) you can see that if that's what you were looking at you'd see week long "plateaus" which are so demotivating, and

    (2) when you do something bad, you see it the very next day with a diamond really close to or above the line. On my chart, you can clearly see which weekends have been tough for me.

Hope this helps! It really works for me. trendweight.com is completely free, not even any ads.

    you already know the answer:

unfortunately its very difficult to out exercise poor eating habits.

Try eating a high protein breakfast. It will set your metabolism for the day. Drink only water or water with the juice of a lemon. it will help with elimination. You are doing great with the walking. Watch the carbs you consume after 2 pm. Try eating 6 small meals and never go more than 4 hours without eating. Don't eat anything after 6 pm. If you cut your calories to 500 to 750 two week days it may offset some of your weekend weight gain. Good luck with your your weight loss. Find a good buddy to talk to when you feel the urge to eat. Food can sometimes be our best friend so find someone that will encourage you and not sabotage what you are trying to accomplish.
