Hello...I have made a few posts here so I thought I would finally introduce myself....

My name is April, I am 33 years old and august 6th I went to the doctors to have a physical and during that visit I finally had my AH HA moment....i stepped on the scale and it read....gasp...325... Ugh...I knew it was going to be bad (I mean, I'm not blind) but 325 was wayyyy worse then I ever thought it was....although I have been heavy almost my whole life, the last three years I have been suffering from a bad depression and my weight just got gradually worse....I knew it was...but being single and childless at my age simply gave me no reason to smile....
The doctor asked me if I have ever considered weight loss surgery, I have but working retail my insurance plan pretty much sucks....so he then gave me the option of a weight loss pill... I said yes... Anything to help me jump start this would be a help....he put me on phentermine....I also immediately changed my WHOLE way of eating...no white rice, white bread or white potatoes, no peas or corn...nothing with a lot of sodium or excess sugar, and very little red meat...I basically eat chicken, turkey or seafood for protein now....I go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week and do free weights the other days....
The first month I lost 30 pounds bringing me down to 295.....and just today I got weighed again...lost another 17 lbs... So I am at 278...I have sooooo far to go and I am determined not to be like others who have stopped taking phentermine and gained the weight back....
Any advice?

Hi! I've taken Phentermine a couple of times in the past & always gained back. However, I never changed my diet or exercised I just relied on the "magic pills" doh! It sounds like you are undertaking a healthier approach to it, & whilst I wouldn't give glowing recommendations of the tablets its personal choice.

Wow! You are doing a great job and should be so proud. You seem to have the right frame of mind about it all and are doing really well so far. Keep it up!

I know you say being single and childless means you had no one to do it for but you should do it for you! And that gorgeous dog in your profile pic (if he is yours) I'm sure he wants his mum around for many years :)

Congrats on your weight loss. Just a question, not a critisism, have you tried without the pills? The changes to your diet that you are describing should result in weight loss without the pills

I too have taken Phentermine in the past and it worked GREAT for the first month. Then my regular appitite came screaming back! Eeeek! That was years ago.

When I just started to get motivated and statred to watch what I ate again I went to my Doc who had me start on Buspar, an anti -anxiety pill and Celexa also for anti-anxiety, I finally got my social phobia and panic attacks under control. She then gave me Phentermine again and said "only take it went you really think you will need it" like if I'm going to be home most of the day. (I get the boredom munchies) Or if I know I'm going to be going to a resturant I really like and don't want to be stark raving hungry and totally throw my good eating plans out the window. Then I'll take HALF of a pill. I don't want to depend on a pill or take it so much that it stops working like it did before. I got the RX about 2 months ago and still have at least half a bottle left!

It sounds like you are not only relying on a "magic pill" but are actually changing eating patterns an long infrained habits! Congrats! You are doing it the RIGHT way! There is no such thing as an actuall "magic diet pill" only something that may provide a little help now and then. Keep doing what you are doing and you will succeed!

Yes, I have tried many many diets in the past and I have lost maybe 10 or 15 lbs but that's it, and always put it back on (plus more). My goal is to only stay on phentermine through the holidays....and I am in no way thinking of it as a "magic pill". The problem is me, I had to change...I can NEVER go back to the way I was eating, eventually I am going to add an occasional "treat" like a dessert or something, only because I know that realistically I cannot give up any kind of "junk" forever, I just have to watch how much of something I eat.
