M&M's...

I have no control over those, they're like crack. Without even realizing, I downed a little over a 100g in a matter of... minutes I guess
Do you have any tips on how to stop eating them/get disgusted by them? And no, eating as many as I can and then feeling sick does not make me cease in anyway :grumble:
As a side note, I also have to add that I cannot get rid of them as the rest of my family does also eat them, just veeeeery slowly :grumble:

They sell individual packs that are 100 calories. It's much easier when they are portioned out.
Edited to add - I tend to stack up on individually wrapped candy at Halloween since that is the main time they sell it. It still takes some self control, but it's much easier to throw a bag in my purse to eat in the afternoon rather than get a full bag from the vending machine.0 -

Or use a digital scale to portion them out ahead of time, so it's not a temptation to keep grabbing from a bag.0

Unfortunately, I haven't come across those in France and smaller containers usually are far expensive than our budget for 'junk' allows :ohwell:0

Then do what another person suggested. Portion them into ziploc bags yourself.0 -
Oh you can believe me if I tell you I have quite some self control . The only things I seem to be unable to mount up any resistance too are grapes and M&m's. I guess it's the 'pop in your mouth' concept that is getting to me :grumble:0

You just said you have self control and also lack self control in the same paragraph. Does not compute.
I... I believe I can say that I do have self control over most aspects of my life (food being included). However I seem to lack said self control over two things, as cited above0 -
If you have to have some, take some out of the bag, weigh them, put them in a bowl, then put the bag away. And tell yourself you only have this to eat, and to enjoy it.
They're crack though, I agree, I avoid buying them or start to eat them when I do, lol.0 -

I wish I could avoid having them around the house too  .
I guess I'll have to afford some self-discipline - let's see how long I'll be able to make the remaining 380g last~0 -
Very important question: peanut or plain?
Because plain are just so boring they're just gone in a second and you need another one.
But peanut is a whole different experience. I suck on it first, and when the candy shell is thin and fragile, it cracks and dissolves in the most wonderful way. Then you have to wait for the chocolate to melt away...without chewing. Then, when your mouth is all sweet and sticky from the melted chocolate, you bite into the salty peanut to even things out. In my experience it takes like a whole 30 seconds to eat one M&M this way. Very delicious. If you count out, say, 10 M&Ms and eat them this way, you'll be satisfied by the time you get to the last one.
And then sigh and light a cigarette.

The trick for me is to put them in a cupboard so that I don't see it. My kids have candy my mom sends them and there will be more for halloween. My daughter packs her own lunch and is allowed 1 piece in her lunch. We still have Easter candy leftover because even though it's within reach it's out of sight out of mind.0

Dark chocolate peanut  . And I definitely eat them in the same way but some times it just get's too tempting and I end up chewing them at once0 -

We do to! Probably because it is on the bottom shelf, which is, more than probably, going to be the place in which the M&M's will be eclipsed too~0 -
How about M&M minis? They're the ones that come in a tube. I think it's 150 cals in 1 tube.0

When my husband has candy in the house, I ask him to keep it buried in the freezer. It's out of sight, out of mind there and I don't get into it.0

well something that may hinder you..you have to walk the length of a football field to burn off the calories in 1 M&M. although that doesn't stop me eating them . usually binges are tied to emotions, so evaluating your emotional state may be the first step.0

There's this thing they sell called self control. I think it's in the same isle as the Cheetos in the supermarket
MODERATION SUCKS! :drinker:0 -
Happy to report that i have not taken a hit off the M&M dispenser at work in over 2 weeks. :~) but same thing. One turn of that thing turns into 2 and 7 really really fast. They are the bomb! Also grapes. i count them out and put them in a bag or in my yogurt for work.0

CR@P, I forgot Halloween is coming up.0

Get yourself some GOOD dark chocolate and eat a little bit of that instead. Then you might end up thinking the M&Ms taste like crap and being less "addicted" to them. I think they taste like sugary wax now after eating more quality treats for the past few years. Maybe the same will happen to you. And it's much different to pop a whole Green and Black or Ritter Dark Chocolate with Hazelnuts bar (or whatever you decide you like) in your mouth than it is to polish off a bag of M&Ms.0

I think I love you...and I feel way less silly for my crazy ways of indulging with every. single. peanut. M&M.0
