Staying on Track while Out of Town

So in a couple of weeks I am heading to Chicago for some training. It will be a week long in a hotel and I am sure that grocery shopping and most of my meals will probably be provided or from restaurants etc. There is a gym there which is great and may be the only thing to keep me sane!!!
Any suggestions on how I can keep myself on track as much as possible given the circumstances!?!?!

I used to live in Chicago and I'll say....that one is TOUGH since there is so much delicous food!!!!!
I'd say buy your breakfasts at a grocery store. Find something low cal but nutritious like some fruit and microwavable oatmeal. If the weather is cool, there is a lot of good soup and that can help cut down on cals. Also, if you're lucky and the weather is nice, WALK EVERYWHERE. Walking everywhere is the only way I didn't gain 100 lbs while I lived there. And, as always, go to places taht will customize your order for you and forego as much of the unhealthy extras as possible. And if you MUST have a peice of pizza (mmmmmmm....Chicago pizza......) plan ahead with the rest of your choices and only eat one slice. (The second one is always a mistake anyways).0 -
I booked a hotel once because it had a "gym". It was an ancient universal machine (it used large stones as weights) and a treadmill that I feared to tread on.0

LOLOL OMG well unfortunately I didn't have the choice to chose hotels. Since it is training for work I am going where they send me. The pictures of the gym don't look too bad!!!0

My suggestion is go down at breakfast every day and grab an apple, orange and banana. These can be your snacks through out the day.
If you eat out, be responsible and order grilled meats on salad with lite dressing on the side (try dipping your fork into the dressing before the salad, it will save you cals and still give you the satisfaction of dressing). If salads are not an option, HALF the meal and save the rest for dinner...
Water, water, water... that will help you stay full during the day and will help better than coffee (this is for some people, not everyone feels rejuvinated after a bottle of water).
If you get breaks throughout the day, walk around the conference center/hotel, while you snack on your fruit.
You can always ask the hotel kitchen for a head of lettuce. If you have a minifridge, you can cut the head into quarters (this equals about 2 cups), and have a salad in your room while you watch PPV.
Stock up on low cal snack you can fit in your briefcase or purse.
I hope these tips help... Being diligent is the key. Think of this as a challange, rather than an obsticle.0
