Hi:
I'm Cali_Flower. I just joined today because my doctor told me it was a good way to lose weight. He thinks that my goal of 84 lbs in 12 months is too much. I'm going to try to revise that this week.
I didn't think it was too much because extreme makeover: weight lose edition has people loseing much more than that in 12 months.
What do you all think?

Thanks. 84 lbs would put me at 135 lbs, the same weight I was when I was in university.0

I definitely think it would be difficult but anything is possible if you really want something. don't let anyone say you can't do something. Set your mind to do it and DO IT!0

Hi Cali!
My goals actually work out to be about the same - I'm looking to drop 45kgs by the end of next year, so hopefully in roughly 12 months time, I will be down 38-40kgs, roughly 84 pounds.
It's definitely not going to be easy, but I also don't think it's unrealistic. I know weight usually comes off a bit faster at the start and slower towards the end, with how I'm currently tracking it looks like (in theory) it should balance out and get me where I want to be, when I want to be there.
Feel free to add me as a friend, we can keep each other motivated.0 -
You have to remember to add in stalls along the way. I thought I would have been done by now too but 6 months or more of it have been no change in scale weight.0
-
Its definitely a realistic goal but it will be hard work and require a lot of focus. If you want it bad enough you are going to do it.0
-
Yeah, it can be done. But honestly in my opinion slow and steady is more beneficial. Weight loss is not a trend, it is a lifestyle. Habits have to be relearned.0
-
Yes, it can be done...
... but just because it has been done on a reality TV show (where a bunch of professionals are around ensuring that the lucky participant doesn't get sick along the way) doesn't mean it will be right for you health-wise... and if you plan to have that weight off permanently. A lot of people who were on The Biggest Loser, for instance, start getting fat again after the cameras stop rolling.
That being said, I don't know anything about your physiology and for some 84 lbs in 12 months isn't even a tall order... for some, it's nigh impossible. Best way to know for sure is to check with your doctor.0 -
hey
I think that is fine to have this goal but maybe not to pressurise yourself as to how and when you will get there. As long as you working towards a healthier place to be and a happier you i don't think it matters whether it takes the 12 months you said or maybe 14? You will still look and feel great at the end.
Good luck xx0 -
Thank you very everybody who said I could do it.
Njbelle you're right. It doesn't really matter when I lose it.
GryphonHall good point - TV is different than reality. I didn't realize that people on those shows gained it all back. I'll have to look into that myself.
Babe_Klwer your right I do have to remember to put in stalls along the way. I had actually graphed it all out to make it look like a half an upside down bell curve. In the beginning it would be 10 lbs a month and then in the end it would be 2 lbs a month. It was based on % of body weight. But I think I have to redo that. Or maybe just follow what myfitness pal sets.
Thanks so much everybody for your comments.0
