I'm guessing by you referring to weight in stones you're based here in the UK? Well we have a right to request a second opinion so request to be seen by another GP, also push for being seen by a dietician (unlikely due to such big financial cuts but always worth a go). If it was a GP you visited they're very much just that; a GENERAL practitioner, they do not have specialised knowledge but a broad knowledge of most ailments. So, although I am absolutely not saying ignore your doctor, I personally would seek a second opinion.
Thankyou x0 -
Kind of an unrelated note, but one that applies to anyone who is interested in hearing about "Why We Get Fat." I put that in quotations because it is also the title of a book by Gary Taubes, PhD. I just picked up his book after watching a few of his lectures on YouTube. Wow! Very interesting. Just "google" him on YouTube and you'll find him.0

Usually when doctors suggest a diet so low in calories it has alot to do with the way their digestive system processes the food.
In your case, to lower your blood pressure, your diet seems alright, but I am guessing your diet wasn't always like this.
It's going to take a while to adjust. But try taking fish oil supplements or just eating fish and getting your Omegas use garlic, both are proven to lower blood pressure.
If your eating is clean your blood pressure will def go down.
I wouldn't say go away from what the doctor says because I don't know your medical background, but I would question the calorie suggestions. For example eating lots of fresh veggies could add up in calories but it should never be harmful for going over.
Also I notice your eating this week hasn't had any good vitamins and minerals.
Your clover spread doesn't have anything of value in it. Instead at least use a tablespoon of pure almond butter to give sustainable proteins. Your bread doesn't really have much in it either, its not awful but your body can't use much of it. They say eat grains for fiber but there isn't nearly enough in a slice of bread, get fibers from your veggies instead.
Speaking of veggies you NEED them. Your meal plan doesn't have any vitamin k (good for blood flow/reducing bruises etc) no real calcium and magnesiusm or anything. Your doctor should be telling you this.
You need to balance your vitamins to get rid of the grogginess. Many people think drinking milk will help teeth and bones, but no matter the calcium in it your body cant absorb it without magnesium....which you can also get in your veggies.
ADD lots of veggies.....I sometimes just add a crap ton of raw cut up veggies to a little soup....and since thats your meal tonight....i'd think about it.... if its home-made and calls for salts, use much less than required if any since broths have lots of sodium (not good for your blood pressure)
I hope it can help...your nutirents make a huge difference.... get your D, cal/mag, K, E and omegas for sure
Good luck!0 -
Will look that up x thanks x0

Im not been big headed but i do know about 90% of what it takes to lose weight but only in the manner if being completly mobile which i no longer am!!I say 90% as i think new things always come out so there is always new things to learn soi guess when i said i know all that was slightly exagerated x
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think you know as much as you think you do. If you believe that exercise or "being mobile" as you put it is 90% of weight loss then you don't know that much. Exercise is a very small portion of weight loss. Actually exercise doesn't even have to be done at all for weight loss to occur. The only thing that absolutely must happen for weight loss to occur is a calorie deficit. There are plenty of people, even on this site, who are very successful at weight loss without ever stepping foot inside a gym. Your diet is what dictates weight loss. Exercise or "being mobile" will only effect body composition. Now that's not to say that exercise can't be used along with diet to create a deficit, but exercise is not required to simply lose weight.
And yes there are new things that come along every day in the fitness industry, most are BS, but no matter what comes along next the only "requirement" for fat loss is a calorie deficit.
Good luck....0 -

Very true words x i used to be a church goes (baptised Mormon) until i was made to feel guilty for divorcing my first husband....they made me feel like im supposed to put up with mental n physical abuse...not all of them but enough to make me inactive now!! Im quite a religious lady but not extreme lol0 -

That kind of goes along with what I was saying. If you think that exercise is what you need to do to lose weight, but you can't exercise then you have to take a step back and figure out what you have to do to lose weight.
The only thing that is absolutely necessary to lose weight is a calorie deficit. You have to figure out how to make that deficit occur without relying on exercise. It can be done. A lot of people create a deficit successfully without exercise.
What I am saying is don't tell yourself that since you can't exercise you can't lose weight. Anyone can lose weight, they may have to go about it a different way than someone else, but it can be done.
Good luck...0 -

It's natural for us to trust Drs because we assume they know everything about health. Truth is, most of them take maybe a one semester course on nutrition during their entire education. Nutrition is a broad topic and weight loss is just a small part of that.
Without your height/weight, I can't say how many calories you should try eating each day, but unless you have a medical condition effecting your metabolism, you should be able to lose weight, without exercise, eating more than 1200 a day.

THIS!!!! I don't just trust the doctor because they are a doctor. A nutritionist on the other hand, would know what is good for you.0
