Im re fat and am finding myself having to lose the same weight over and over . I know once i get started its not as hard but finding the motivation to start is harder with each time i regain my weight. Is any one else having such a hard time half way to the goal and then backsliding?? Im not lazy and I have self control in all other areas of my life.

Yes I think when you get to goal as I did last Christmas you feel happy with yourself and get slack so I put on 4 or 5kgs depending on the day and I really can't be bothered trying to get rid of them. I need a huge slap so I can get back there ASAP. Starting at a new gym this week might do the trick for me.

    hey
i know this feeling so well, i think the only way forward when you feel is to just take it a day at a time.
I just started over (again!) today
    good luck xx

I'm sure you do something wrong.

The only way to loose weight and keep your achieved goals (without restricting yourself in food and doing crazy things like tons of cardio/exercises) is to do proper weight loss program and slow returning to non-restrictive eating. Also healthy thyroid functioning/overall hormone balances is a must.

You should contact specialist for this matter or if you don't have money/time etc. consider watching "Layne Norton videolog" on YouTube.

Hi , for me its a constant battle, It has to be a lifestyle change which is easier said than done, however by taking a day at a time and reminding myself why I'm on this lifestyle change is working so far. Best of luck .

I feel you - after three years of maintaining I just tacked on my 80 pounds again. I disagree with what anyone says about needing to "do the proper program," because whatever method happens to work for you can be 100% different from what works for someone else. There are a billion different routes to take, and a billion different tools to use. Exercise more eat less is obvious, but I would always start with determining how many calories a day will maintain your weight and how many will cause you to lose however many pounds a week. There are lots of programs (weight watchers 360, for starters) that work around your life and allow you to plan for the week and be more or less a normal human being. Mistakes are okay. One thing you have to keep telling yourself is that if you make a poor choice early in the day, that doesn't mean you should just throw the rest of your day away.

There are other options - surgery is the huge one (risk/reward is a big talk to have with your doctor if you're considering this), there are a few pills that can be successful in curbing appetite but I wouldn't put a lot of stock into it, and there are exercise programs with accountability that I would strongly encourage you to look into.

Losing weight isn't about just about eating less, the exercise is extremely important.

Personally, I've turned to surgery after 7 years of struggle on the recommendation of my physician and several specialists. That's just what I think I need. You may very, very well be able to get a hold of things the natural way. Just find something that works for you, regardless of how fast it takes the weight off. So long as it does the job and you still feel good, that's what matters.

I'm struggling with this problem as we speak. I lost right at 50 pounds and have goined 15 of it back. I lost the 50 really fast, and only changed my diet to do it. then it seemed like I couldn't lose anymore. Then as my morale went down I eased up on my eating and my weight started back up. I realize I need to include exercise and plan on doing so. I have lots of reasons (excuses) that I don't exercise, but I have to realize I wont loose the weight any other way. Food has always been a big thing in my life and it is VERY hard to change that. Anything I can do to help you with this problem I will and I will accept any advice, help, support that you or anyone else wants to send my way!!

one thing I can say as I myself have always struggled with my weight. I did have gastric bypass lost over 170 lbs 7 years ago and put on 40 lbs. but I did loose it about a year ago with the help of Diet pills then just eating healthy and exercising every day assists me in maintaining and it is a challenge every day!. I have learned a lot over the past 7 years and one thing I will say is I am aware now I am a stress eater and I packed that 40 lbs when I was stressed and once I figured that out it really helped me. I was always like where did I go wrong, what made me pack on the weight again well once I though about what was going on in my life and what changed I realized it and was able to change it. another thing is I know everyone says oh don't eat this and that(things we all crave- sweets) well I have always said to myself if I have something once in a while I know I wont Binge and eat sweets all the time. I love sweedish fish.. I was also one that would get upset when I would stop loosing weight and give up- but after my bypass I lost weight and then stopped and wasn't sure why so I asked my DR. he taught me about plateau's and I finally understood them which now if I hit one I don't get discouraged I change up my routine.. and give it time. so in all be aware of what you are doing, eating, exercising, eating when stressed, not exercising because u "reached your goal" ect ect... hope this helps and I myself am trying to loose a few more and I came across myfitnesspal and thought a support system! others that can relate can help with inspiring you to keep the healthy lifestyle.

"The Fat Trap" in the New York Times brilliantly explains what is a "Fat Metabolism" and why your body wants to get back up to your peak weight. You CAN break the cycle. Check it out! This article changed my life:
