I'm a couple days away from the start of my cycle and am completely ravenous!!! Chocolate is definitely the most appealing to me (of course) and I try to eat thing like Kashi bars so that at least I'm getting some protein and fiber along with my "fix" but yikes!!! I increase my physical activity to try and make up for it but I just feel at a loss. For instance, I'm already at 2320 cals for the day and its barely 2pm my time.
I need advice (AND FAST..lol) What do ya'll do around "that time of the month?"
Thank you!!

Maybe some of those ideas will help?0 -
Vitatops triple chocolate muffin tops... Only 100 calories and 9g of fiber..0

I'm on my cycle now and I just keep drinking water, eating fruit and working out so that I dont think about eating anything bad. LOL0
-
Well, it comes round pretty regularly at my house I try to up my water intake and up up up my exercise and go quite careful BUT I do always give in a little I think that if I am craving something sooooooooo much I should indulge and so long as I can pick it up the next day or day after then hey?????
My loss has been slow but sure, I am not going to be able to get to my goal in a rush so I am gonna plod, get there eventually and will have eaten chocolate and crisps along the way when I am due on! Find what works for you and what you are prepared to compromise on and away you go! Good luck!0 -
I have it bad too!! STAY STRONG!!!
Try chocolate cheerios. I eat them dry, I don't like them with milk. You can have 3/4 cup for like 100 cals or something. Chocolate milk is also a good craving buster and it's super filling.
Good luck!!!0 -
oh yeah i'm right there with ya...i'm mowing down on an orange right now hoping it will help...i've sucked back tons of water...and i'm just getting b!tchier and b!tchier...i think we just have to be strong lol0

I just started today and I'm like you around that time. I do give in to my temptation but I exercise more and drink lots of water. I love dark chocolate which is really good for you. I wouldn't say deprive yourself because that usually lead to binging.0
-
How about dark chocolate with some fresh fruit???0
-
Jello sugar free 60 calorie snack packs! They come in awesome flavors like banana fudge and dulce de leche and they are my savior!!!0
-
i try to eat a small portion of something like one cookie or a choc chewy granola bar for 100 calories after my meal when I am full, then I will drink a huge cup of hot tea or sugar free cocoa and I feel so full I cant eat anything if I wanted too.0

Water, Midol and wine :flowerforyou:0

Totally understand - last month, I made my meals spicier, and it was at once really satisfying, but also it helped curb my appetite if I ate it slowly (which I had to do cuz of the heat!)0

I try to eat a small portion of what I really crave. I am just finishing a 150-cal portion of bridge mix--but now I feel I've satisfied my craving and can eat better the rest of the day. I find that if I really have a craving and never get a taste, I will often end up eating everything else in sight anyway. So...I have a little of what I really want and can walk away feeling satisfied.
Hang in there!0 -

Emerald Nuts Cocoa Roasted Almonds. A good chocolatey taste for not a lot of calories. And a quarter of a cup is a pretty good serving size for me.0

When I have a chocolate fix, I go for sugar-free pudding, Jell-O sugar free mousse, chocolate flavored cereals or a sugar-free fudgesicle.0

When I eat bad stuff during my TOM it really drives me to eat more bad. Last month my period was a little bit early and totally caught me off guard. I had no bloating, no cravings, it was just a big surprise and I think it is because I am watching the salt and sugar. I swear the only reason I ever gained was from my period because other than that time of the month I otherwise behaved myself. Try to eat as balanced as you can, eat wholegrains, no sugar and you'll do fine.0

I get cravings too during that time and quite frankly.. I usually give in one day! I dont eat alot but omg.. you need chocolate. The real kind! Just one day though..treat yourself and satisfy your craving or else your not going to stop thinking about it.
All the other days... find a low calorie snack that will tide you over. Drink lots of water.. especially during that time of the month and exercise! Maybe when you have a craving that is overwhelming to you.... exercise. get out and walk instead. Dont stand in the kitchen looking at more food! Your not hungry.. you just think you need it but you just want it.. two different things!
but they do have 100 calorie snacks... how about sugar free chocolate pudding? thats low in calories.0 -
Because I really don't like dark chocolate, I always keep it around for this purpose...I get my chocolate fix but am not tempted to overindulge because it isn't my favorite. Dove's dark chocolate squares really help! It has to be the 70%, though. Also, I freeze them so they last a lot longer. This worked when I was thin--I have since given up and just ate Kit Kats for a while, But I am going to go back to this today :O)0

Don't feel bad about giving in a little bit. Your body actually uses more energy around that time due to all the functions your body needs to carry out for your cycle and to prepare for your cycle. Thats not to say go crazy... but don't feel bad about a couple cookies or a chocolate bar.0

Chocolate Cheerios really? I think I need to make a trip and see what other cool things I can get south of the border!.0
-
I am also a huge fan of the Chocolate Cheerios, but lately my favorites have been the Jello Mousse Temptations in either chocolate or caramel (60 calories each) and the Yoplait Whips yogurt in Chocolate or Chocolate Raspberry (160 calories each). Throw one of those bad boys in the freezer for a couple hours, then go to town! And if nothing but the good stuff will do, I like either a Dove milk chocolate bar or a nice hot cup of cocoa. You can do either for at or under 200 calories, and both are divine. The real key is to savor the taste, enjoy it, and make it last; a little can go a long way!0

I buy those teenie containers of Skinny Cow ice cream when I'm having a sweet tooth. They have SO MANY delicious flavors and their only a buck at Wally World! I bought 2 about 2wks ago, I ate half of one (of course the day I started, their only 5.8oz) and I was satisfied, for the whole container it's 150cal. 1g. fat & 4g. fiber, Like I said half satisfies me so that's only 75cal, My favorites are Strawberry Cheesecake and Dulce De Leche, mmmmm. . . think I'm gonna go eat that last half now :bigsmile:0

Am I the only person who doesn't really like chocolate, much less crave it when I'm PMSing? Wow, I feel defective haha0
