Generally, you can use coconut water where you would normally choose to use water or juice. For starters you can flavour it yourself, applying the very same approach to making Flavoured Water. From that you can sweeten it or not for icicles, sorbets, smoothies, shakes, almond/rice milk (and like varieties) and ice cream. You can make creamsicles if you were to add coconut cream or almond milk - Naturally you might want to increase your sweetener because of the coconut cream or coconut milk. When cooking you may consider to substitute water with coconut water where you would ordinarily need to thin out your soup or stew, or where you'd opt to not use as much salt as you normally would (taste test is required). For a less acidic vinaigrette many vegans use coconut water to flavour the salad after washing - another option; Kinda wasteful, but it works. You can also apply the same principle with your chopped up fruits.

Many vegan recipes for breads and desserts use coconut water. Eg Mousse (Savoury/Sweet) Go ahead and Google it ... Pinterest and Yummly are good guides. Taste it and see for yourself, what your own palate might crave for after your taste-test. Coconut water tastes different from tree to tree; The tree is different; Its age is a determinant; The processing pre-packaging is another; Oil content; The texture of pulp, are all factors in the final taste of Coconut Water. Some manufacturers sugar it overmuch. The closer to natural it is the better. Sometimes even dropping a leaf (eg mint) changes the flavour profile positively.

ETA: Kindly watch your volume of consumption per day. Unlike water, coconut water is high in sodium, so if you're not watching your potassium ratio as per consumption or your activity level (perspiration etc), you might circumvent your plans.

Basically you can cook with coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut cream, coconut milk, coconut pulp (mature and young) and coconut water.

    ETA: Coconut flour

 Coconut water is (i) an acquired taste and (ii) high maintenance, most especially when on a weight loss programme or if it is a health issue. You gotta know how to use coconut water to suit and accommodate your lifestyle, keeping your fingers on the pulse of your health. It's very much like sugar. Having it is not bad for you; Too much of it can be detrimental for you much like coconut flour - Used with whole wheat and other Paleo-friendly flours it can be low-calorie comparatively, although your fats@macros might blow up.

I like using it in the place of milk/water in smoothies! If you got the canned kind with the pulp in it - just take a sip. You won't have any left in five minutes to worry about recipes with! :P
  • I don't cook with coconut water (at least not yet) but I do use it in my post work out smoothie. I add 8oz of coconut water, 1 cup tropical fruit, 1/2 cup spinach, and vanilla powder. Turns out great and I really can't taste the coconut in it.
