And OP - don't let it get you down! We all have weeks like that. I'll have a week where I swear I'm going to go up a ton because I feel bloated and blech and I didn't eat the best, and I'll drop 3-4, and then I'll have a week where I swear I'm going to drop 1-3 because I did everything right, and I go up 1 or 2 instead. Mostly I have regular weeks that sort of fluctuate back and forth but ultimately end in a drop, albeit slight sometimes, but don't worry! Going up a bit is normal and natural. Just keep doing the right thing (and if you aren't sure - then weigh/measure/log meticulously so you don't gyp yourself of the awesome tools here).

    You've got this.

And you also now have an inspiring song <g>

    It could be...

water retention due to excess sodium
water retention due to increased carb consumption
    water retention due to TOM

    Eating more than you burn.

Please don't let your devastation turn into an excuse. It was one kilo, not one hundred. In all likelihood it was water weight and you will lose that plus some in your next weigh in IF you continue creating a calorie deficit.

Weight loss is simple but not easy. Chin up, back straight, chest out and keep on going.

    As to OP:

Dont be sad!!! We're women.. it happens. every week in fact lol ... some weeks worse than others.

I had a Bioscreening for work yesterday... and weighed in at 168 pounds... last saturday... just 5 days before, i weighed in at 165!!
any number of things could have lead to the extra numbers on the scale... dont let them hurt you!

I like to think that my body has a co-dependency relationship with fat. When I lose weight, I occasionally go through phases where the fat comes back, and I imagine that it's like an annoying ex-lover who doesn't understand that my body doesn't want to put up with its s*** anymore. But every now and again, my body goes, "Oh, okay, maybe one more try... no, f*** it" and then like four pounds come off at once.

I am nominating this post for the best explanation ever of up-and-down weigh-ins.
    *bows*

... and now I'm trying to think of how to rewrite the song "I Will Survive" from the point of view of a dieter. I am too weird for words at times...

EDIT: And 10 minutes later, I come up with this:

At first, I was afraid, I was petrified,
Kept thinking, I could never eat unless the food was fried
And how I spent so many nights, eating cookies by the pound,
Until I found, that my body shape was round

So to that fat, all over me
I know it's both our faults you made my toes impossible to see
I should have skipped that chocolate cake
I should have taken yoga class
But now I've simply had enough of you just riding on my a**

Go on now, go, get off of me
Just melt away now, 'coz I am losing weight, you see
You were the one who shot my blood pressure sky high
Set my heart racing until I thought that I would die

Oh no not that, to hell with fat,
Oh, I'll miss my late night bingeing fits, but I can live with that
I've got a life to live, you see, I've got some muscle still in me
So, goodbye fat, health's where it's at, hey hey!

It toook all the will I had not to eat it all
I had to learn Domino's understands if I don't call
I may spend way too many nights just craving everything I see
I want to feed, but I'll eat only what I need

So when you see me looking great
It's coz I'm strong enough to not completely clear my plate
And when I feel like giving up and thinking I just can't survive
I'll think of just how great I'll feel when I'm 175

Go on now, go, get off of me
Just melt away now, 'coz I am losing weight, you see
You were the one who shot my blood pressure sky high
Set my heart racing until I thought that I would die

Oh no not that, to hell with fat,
Oh, I'll miss my late night bingeing fits, but I can live with that

    Epic!

I'm glad so many people like my song! :D

And no, I'm not going to record it. I have a passable voice, but I just wouldn't be able to get through it without cracking up laughing.

I just went and got my bi weekly weigh in and I put on a kilo even thru I ate my calorie range so upset...I have been trying so hard to lose weight and this is just a depressing blow to the stomach.

This is why you should weigh every day instead of once every two weeks. If you weighed every day, you'd just have to wait a day to weigh again.

Now you have to be "devastated" for two weeks.

    TOTALLY THIS ^^^^

YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW AS A WOMAN YOUR CYCLE WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING FOR A WEEK AND THEN THE NEXT WEEK IT WILL BLESS YOU WITH EXTRA LOSS. ITS ALWAYS THAT WAY.

Chiming to to the OP to say hang in there, my scale has been doing that to me all summer, but you can't let it derail your efforts. :flowerforyou:

And expressing love for Samuraiko 's explanation of weight gains/losses. Too perfect. Same with the song lyrics - which I now cannot get out of my head :noway:

It's like going to a carnival and taking a ride on the roller coaster - at first it seems daunting with all it's ups and downs but eventually you learn to enjoy the ride. I think the hardest part is to stop looking at it from the point of view of diet and exercise. Once you get your head around the fact that it is a lifestyle change and go with the flow rather than fight it things will start happening - slowly - but still happening. Sorry just a little rant from my own experiences.
  • I have decided to go back to my old ways of the food dairy since I have been using fitnesspal its been depressing so good luck all I am ending my time here
