T2 Diabeic new to forum

Hi all, I,ve had T2 diabetes since 2010 and in the last month I started injecting insulin. I was recommended this site/smartphone app by another diabetic for counting carbs in food/meals. What a great app it is and it takes the guess work out of carb counting due to the food database - I couldn't do without it. If you use this to count carbs for diabetes maybe you can give me some advice or tips. The smartphone app doesn't display total carbs per mea (just cals)l - I have to go to the online version to do that. feel free to add me as a friend.

Have been on this site since July. i have lost 40 lbs. Have not restricted carbs but have cut back on them. 1 month after reducing my calories and starting excercise program, i quit taking insulin because my blood sugar was normal. In september, a1c1 had dropped from a 10 (in june) to a 7. One point away from being considered not diabetic. So i totally recommend you follow the plan on this sight. As for food, i don't restrict anything, i stay within my calorie goal, but i do try to stay away from added sugar. I get out and walk every day. Life is good without depending on a needle.

T2 here since 2007 but until January was controlled by diet and exercise.... I am now on Bydeuron injections weekly, Januvia and invokana daily. Make sure to reset your daily allowances of certain things... for instance MFP sets your daily protein goals way to low. I am down almost 40lbs since January and A1C is down from 9.8 to 7.7. I have 6 weeks to get it down more or I go on daily insulin but since adding invokana 7 weeks ago my readings have gone down so I am hopeful! This is a great site for not only tracking but if you are fortunate enough to find good encouraging friends you can also have accountability and motivation ( I LOVE to read success stories from my peeps)!

I was diagnosed with T2 in April 2012 and did pretty well controlling it until earlier this year. I stopped watching what I was eating and testing regularly, so in in Aug I was put on insulin. Since then I've started walking more, watching what I eat and have lost 20lb. I don't necessarily count carbs, but I am very mindful about what carbs I eat and how much. Last month I got a Fitbit and joined this site, so far it's been a great resource. Good luck!

There is a diabetes support group and one for insulin resistance. Search the forums for them.
